I wasn’t a fan of this song first album listen - the vocal affect caught me off guard a bit. But I’ve noticed its streams are some of the highest on the album (on Spotify) just behind LH. It’s now one of my favourites. 
 

Do we think the song would smash as a single with an ethereal music video? Discuss.

What girl was this? Sounds like Bey, it hasn't outstreamed BMS although it will by the summer 

 

OP: I'm a firm believer in varied singles which show an artists range, so Taylor should release it even if it's not as radio friendly as other tracks and have a relatively lower peak on BB100

It would if she released singles before the album. No single from Midnights will smash anymore.

This, she's not getting another smash from Midnights. Although I think releasing new singles/videos with appropriate playlisting could help stabilize the album long term.

it sounds terribly flat, the vocal effect will terrify the radio listeners, there is no catchy part off the song which can be chopped for TikTok moment

not to mention the song ends with anti-climax (bridge)

 

I still dont get why it has many streams compared to the songs which got viral moments such as Bejeweled and Karma

Because my casual music listeners friends are familiar with those 2 because of TikTok/IG reels, but not Midnight Rain

 

If there is song which I think, will work as single is Karma

Midnight Rain needs to have a radio version tho with less of that vocal effect thingy....the chorus she sings without the effect sounds a million times less jarring and though it does make the song more unique it can be a major turn off on radio.

MIDnights era will be over soon, i think she has realized that making songs singles doesnt even do much after dont blame me or cruel summer have been smashing over her singles

I know that is a lot of singles because I just think that midnights is so huge that she should really milk it harder like how dua did for FN!!!!

It’s very Katy Perry witness (midnights gives that tea for me, so credit to Taylor for making it successful)

I'm not sure how radio listeners would feel about that vocal effect but she could always release a piano version without it just for that

Maroon is the best song on the album.

 

Midnight Rain, Lavender Haze and MAYBE Karma could be hits.
