You will always go "what the **** is this" at first and then it grows on you. It's very apparent with Next Level, Savage and Step Back cases recently

It's obviously not a safe choice for a top 40 global hit

Not weird noisy songs, they do good with EXO and some of Red Velvet songs. Also they need to put money on spotify instead of YouTube.

It feels incorrect to say newjeans are slaying “without effort”. There’s clearly a lot of thought and effort put into their roll out, they’re just not doing the usual western pandering (which never really works btw). Had SM put actual effort into aespa’s western advances instead of releasing **** like Life’s too shot they would for sure have seen better results

those are rare cases. Most of the time those messy songs don't grow. 

it's crazy how i just realized this

but the reason why teddy didn't pass the ball as a producer with bp is because you get a LOT of money when your songs are chosen to be title tracks

SM would have had Western success with RV. 

 

Bad Boy and Psycho are Gold eligible in the U.S. and Capitol Records literally said publicly that they wanted to sign the girls. Their staff even went to RV's tour. 

 

But SM just ignored it.

Without trying is not with a big payola, they are not promoting in the west and they just started the cycle promo in Korea 

 

They are not in any show in the west for example. Is just their music speaking

without effort here means they haven't actually do any promotion in the West yet. SM clearly spent much more effort with an english song, the "1st kpop act to perform on Coachella main stage" thing, Good Morning America, Central Park perfomances, the UN speech,... It's just the effort they put into Aespa were not the right one.

The silly argument here, the reason why no sm artists achieved huge success since snsd because they intend to, kpop company is filled with money laundring etc thats why yg and hybe casually branched out with the black label and hybe with ador, see what happened to blackpink when they become so huge? They dissapear and only released once in a while this is to escape tax law, newjeans is technicaly under ador so they will maximize ther tactic and effort to succeed, kpop company received the money from government for spreading hallyu wave, sm has been very succesful and its their will to slow it down, i believe once sm branched out with new company like ador they will start to push harder. 

 

Sm is in a very good condition with smcu they dont really need to be more succesful kpop is at the peak and they are maintaining it to not make it too saturated, i believe they are playing for a long success of kpop and i believe all these music experts from all company has a group meeting to discuss about future of kpop. 

 

I love aespa but they will never really become huge like blackpink because its not the time, when one girlgroul emerge you can feel the difference if thats the choosen one. Lets be honest,  newjeans sing are terrible they are b side red velvet aong but how come they very succesful?  Company sejegi and indsustry plant, i think sm has already takrn their part in kpop with snsd superjunior nd tvxq as the pionerr of kpop...

it's always weird when kpop companies release disney channel pop songs to get that western push, like Life's Too Short, Boys Like You, Bet You Wanna etc etc

like kpop is successful because it's kpop not because it sounds like what's on western radio

seriously though I do think the algorithm is in their favor atm cause it will almost always play for me after I listen to nj. But that might just be the way I trained mine.

newjeans is smashing because of good music and fresh concepts - its really not that deep - and of course because they're at HYBE aka BTS' label
