2. That's a huge problem. It's called an hostile takeover but it's not an easy thing to do. There are multiple rules in place to notify the others shareholders of what you're trying to accomplish. Buying 5-10-15% is easy, 30-40%? Not so much. But again, LSM was HATED and HYBE is better than ever. I have no idea of what's going to happen.

 

I don't think we know enough about SM's specific governance structure to say whether it is unlikely or not. They could have implemented share classes for example.

 

I agree acquiring 25% is not easy, especially in a company like SM where everything is fragmented and there are battle lines drawn. HYBE must have confidence that they can do it though, considering they've already raised the financing for it.

 

I'll be interested to see what Kakao will do, since they also want additional shares, or whether they'll give up. They've been trying to acquire LSM's 18% since 2021, only for HYBE to snatch it from under their nose at the last minute.
