From my understanding just because hybe buys sm shares doesnt mean they will buy all of SM and will call the shots, kakao also owns shares and it's a competing label, of course they will invest in the company and have some power on decision making and will profit according to their investment.

 

SM won't operate the same because of the men in charge is no longer there so a new direction is expected in how they will market the groups, concepts and maybe more, the producers will mostly be the same since they re under contract, maybe the only group that will be affected the most is aespa and if their concept is reworked it may as well be for the better

Yeah I think a lot of people are just being overdramatic about this, when we don't have any real information about what, if anything, is being bought by HYBE.

 

LSM still owns his controlling share of SM at this point and with the lawsuit, it's looking unlikely that he will give it up easily now. Whoever holds those shares will be the one with ultimate control over SM. Kakao failed to purchase them, they have bought a lesser stake in the company, which is being challenged by LSM.

 

SM's new management system should in theory be good news for their bigger acts, but whether they implement the system properly...we'll have to see.

Any logical person can see SM's downfall started when they began to invest 90% of their resources into NCT with bare minimal returns. Abysmal Spotify streams, abysmal digital sales, and despite having 100 members, they still aren't even close to being the bg with highest album sales per album. They only sell a lot by spamming releases. 

 

The only people who can't see NCT started SM's ruin is NCT stans

HYBE won't adquiere SM, SM first needs to get rid of LSM and HYBE needs to buy their market shares SM/LSM owns first

Yeah I agree. I'm not sure if YG is purposely hiding the sales, maybe they're just incompetent. Though either situation wouldn't surprise me...it's YG.

 

Nearly every album that hits 800k+ on Hanteo manages to reach 1M on Circle lately, so she probably is at 1M in reality.

It started in September 2020 probably, when SM (and LSM himself) were suddenly audited by the National Tax Service. SM's shareholders have been unhappy with him for a while.

 

A few months later, LSM put his controlling shares up for sale in 2021, and Kakao, HYBE, CJ ENM and others were all interested.

 

Then all the mess about LSM's shady contracts were exposed which only accelerated SM's plans to kick LSM from the company.
