Tbh I understand why Luna flopped it's exactly why Solar is flopping too. They don't have the fanbase, so releasing a song with the GP appeal first, would be better than appealing to Kpop fans who were only supporting them via SNS and not by buying their music.

No.  Lee Sooman wanted to leave and got as much as he could for his shares.  Na Byungjun's company got into financial trouble when the Mango Six investment went bad and used his shares to get a loan to keep the company going, but chose a Chinese real estate scammer who took the company away from him.

 

SM being owned by Kakao doesn't change much because Kakao (Loen) is generally respected in the industry.  Fantagio being owned by a Chinese real estate scammer resulted in the industry trying to make it difficult for them to operate normally at every turn in order to smoke out the weasels.  Eventually the Chinese government somehow decided to throw the scammer into one of their prisons, transferring Fantagio to some kind of Korean/Hong Kong fund manager that has returned things to being operational at least.

Like I guess I was delusional for thinking SM would actually bring something new to Kpop sonically. 

I've been wanting someone to do a grimes art angels era sound for ages now 

since I don't particularly feel like listening to grimes anymore 

the only WTMYW's track i dont like is thirsty... too ariana'ed which isn't my taste
