This. Call it redundant but YG songs are listenable, ignoring repetitiveness they're actually good. A lot of the BLACKPINK criticism is the 'same old same old' drag but independently, all of their songs are straight up fire (criticism is still valid though)

 

With SM? Its just absolute noise. No vibes, no rhythm, no melody to latch onto, just oversinging, bare top melody and synths exploding everywhere with a chanting BGV.

 

speaking of Dem Jointz, this is his best kpop production

the beat is sooo minimalistic but at the same time soo aggressive and it hooks you

The issue with BoA is she's always shielded by SM fans unreasonably. She has this image of the perfect and selfless idol when in reality she does whatever she can to remain relevant. Most comments I see from SM stans are "Omg they're definitely forcing BoA to be there lmaoooo" when in reality she's likely one of the ones pushing it as it's the most relevant she's been internationally since her debut basically.

 

She's everywhere. Even aespa's DCT had a documentary centered around BoA. Whether or not she had a hand in producing it, that was so unnecessary. She's giving the impression of a leech at this point

100% the issue with SM. They excel at hiring attractive vocals but waste them on yodeling tracks. Genie is one of SNSD's least vocally challenging title tracks yet Jessica and Taeyeon were still able to shine vocally with the right vocal adlibs.

 

SM just thinks every song needs to be a screaming match and they need to get out of this phase ASAP but I don't think it will until their executive team dies or retires cause

hopefully new superm members means its rotational and baekhyun can be free after this new cb

SuperM comeback seems like an excuse to have another US tour at this point. I'm expecting almost the entire SM roster to be on tour in 2023 at this rate (except SNSD). RV have their festivals, aespa are certainly planning a tour, TVXQ hasnt toured in years and that's easy money, SHINee and EXO have been rumored to do tours since last year, and NCT already have tour dates WW.

I'm sure they'll tour other places internationally this year too though.
