Miley: The most versatile ex-act. Agree?

Featured Replies

Truly the ex-act to have taken the most risks sonically, visually, and thematically. :clap3:

Versatile? Throwing random **** on the wall to see what sticks is not being versatile, she tried abosultely everything and failed except with Bangerz.

plastic hearts slapped tho

She impresses me of how she’s open to trying new genres, even if some of the results aren’t sticking.

So versatile for Selena, Demi and Ariana to have superior discographies.

Not just ex-act.

She has to be one of the most versatile mainstream female to debut this century. Probably top 5 or top 10.

Miley couldn't make a decent album if her life depended on it

Sure :rip: her discography is way better than the ones you mentioned (especially Demi) :bibliahh:

What happened to Miley btw? I don't think I heard from her for years :deadbanana2:

Explain why her discography is panned, most of which aged like milk and Pitchfork stated Plastic Hearts was the first time she put music first and headlines second

One thing is being versatile, another one is not having an identity. The line is thin, don't quite know yet which side Miley is on.

And by saying that they lied :rip:

She’s probably somewhere covering old rock songs

OT: Yeah but it’s very hit-or-miss with her. I hope she releases another PH-esque album but she’s probably recording a K-pop album next or something

You're right, she never put music first. Her "rock era" did not live up to how it was marketed and was as disingenuous as is.

This, she's indeed versatile but she hasn't had an identity for most of her career.

She's really not versatile at all. Vocally, she sounds like she should be doing country, and aesthetically she's more sloppy than anything.

Literally everything she has put out during 2018-2020 was more cohesive and much better received than Bangerz among fans and those critics that y'all seem to care so much. This thread isn't to discuss sales or your personal taste. :priceless:

That is always going to be one of the most interesting elements to Miley’s career. Yes, some of the artistic choices she has made didn't work, but she's clearly not afraid to take risks and try new things, explore new music sounds and collaborate with different people to help her explore her vision in music to the fullest.

Miley was coming from her commercial peak, but decided to buy herself out of her label and partner with The Flaming Lips to put out a psychedelic rock album for free. The project has it's own failures, but it gave us raw lyrics and many of those tracks are career highlights. Many mainstream pop girls don't have it in them to dare to try that route.

That probably explains why after taking her time to explore different things, Miley seems to now have a clear sense of what she wants musically and has been outdoing herself artistically in her latest projects. 16 years in and Miley seems to be at her creative peak, meanwhile most fans of the other girls are already nostalgic of their earlier works.

Yet her discography is the worst among all the ex-acts lol:deadbanana4:

her sound is everchanging so it's normal that not everything will be for u :deadbanana2:

especially when the basic ATRLer can only listen to pure Pop bops :toofunny3:
