In honor of Labor Day, these two MPGs put in the most work for their respective generations. Katy was queen of digital sales over Gaga while Ariana was queen of streaming over her peers like Dua.

 

Who had the bigger career or peak?

Ariana is bigger than Katy, Katy was only pushing like 2-3M album units per era even during her peak   Ariana doesn’t do a LOT better but she’s definitely not that low. 

As a katy stan, its Katy. Teenage Dream (2010) is almost up par with thank u, next (2019) in recurrent streams. Also Katy has more #1 hits, longer charting album on the Billboard 200, the top 2 most viewed female music videos and more Diamond hits.

 

Ariana does have two Grammys tho and her overall streaming figures are much more impressive than Katy's.

Katy was a bigger musical act at their respective peaks. Ariana is a much bigger celebrity figure though, all the ex-child star pop girls are.

I feel like if Ari doesn't put an effort into her next eras that Katy will be more remembered in the future thanks to mega smashes like Roar, Firework, Dark Horse, California Gurls,...

Katy was a MPG from 2008 til 2017 and Ari since 2014 and pending (but she's on an indefinite hiatus now), so both have lasted 8/9 years at the top....

Ariana is bigger overall now. Katy had a bigger peak

if yiu counted OOTB era, we better count everything since Problem for Ari.

Also, it's not just about YEARS, it's about the number of eras in those years. Ari managed to release much more successful number of albums/eras (ME, DW, Sweetener, TUN, Positions) while Katy only had 3 successful eras then flopped.

Funny how you can't admit that you were wrong on the previous matter, but oh well lol.

 

Katy produced in those 3 eras as much hits as Ariana in her 5 in the same amount of years. End of discussion.

Katy’s peak was much bigger.  
 

However, Ariana has been more consistent.
 

 So this is a classic, peak vs longevity debate.  I like Ariana more so I am going to vote for her.
