I can understand why it was scrapped tbh. A lot of the songs are mid at best. Revelations tho >>

Yeah this wouldn’t be a strong debut. I used to feel really bad for her and her situation with the label but it looks like they did her a favour. Maybe she can have a real album rollout in 2023.

its so weird how the consistent quality of Era 1 literally took such a massive nosedive

 

my theory is that Dr Luke was somehow very heavily involved in Era 1 which led to his experienced pop polish being the secret recipe and the top notch quality seen across every single. However, clearly something must have happened and he stopped being involved because most of these songs sound like knock off, lesser versions of her older songs and it seems like Kim and her current team are trying to tap into what her first Era did so well but are not nearly reaching that level of quality... hence the departure of Dr Luke and the subsequent major decline in quality.

 

This is rly the only explanation for how she could put out killer non-album singles but now when all eyes are on her and she has an actual record label to give her the push she always needed, just suddenly can't make songs of the same caliber -- right when she needs to put out the very best of her career.

 

It's all so baffling and tbh i think it must boil down to something like this honestly 

Can someone conjure up a tracklist of sorts so I know all of what to look for.  

@Supervillain would you know what the tracklist was going to be?

yeah, as others have said, the label was right this time. this wouldn't have done anything for her in terms of acclaim, charts, or fanbase building. might've done alright on the aritzia dressing room hot 100 but that's about it.

 

edited: it's also SO flat for an album with a provocative/bombastic/offensive/whatever you want to call it name.

Didn't she say this was supposed to be Europop or least inspired? Everything I've heard so far has... not necessarily been that.

Most of this is giving diet Future Nostalgia...

 

Lot's of funky, nu-disco grooves but nothing here really stands out... the only song I've clicked with outside of FSN and Coconuts is Revelations.

 

To be totally honest, Republic probably did her a favour scrapping it...
