It uses last.fm's total scrobbles

 

All those artists have short discographies and last.fm is littered with rock/indie fans, which inflates Artic Monkeys & co.'s streams

 

Plus, my entire top-50 is pretty mainstream, so some big acts are bound to be low on the list

This doesn't make any sense. If the "more mainstream" acts are at the top then why is The Killers and Arctic Monkeys above Beyoncé in my results? And in WHAT WORLD is Björk more mainstream than One Direction?
