Adele is doing fine still

Featured Replies

This is just a response to the people here who said that Adele fell off.

The reason why 30 has dropped faster on the album charts is that today's charts are all about streaming and don't reflect her main strength, pure sales, at all anymore. If 21 and 25 were released today, they would not have done as well as they did in the pure sales era. And you could say that her lack of promo hurts more now than it did before. Easy On Me actually did better on the charts than Hello. And Oh My God would have done better if she dropped it before the album. Adele's gonna release I Drink Wine later this year and it could do better than OMG though.

But regardless, the streams for her catalog are decent, 21 and 25 both getting over 2 million streams daily on Spotify. 30 has decreased to 3 million streams by now, but it's gonna settle at over 2 million for years to come. She has 38 million followers on Spotify with just 4 albums out. She's set for life already and her future releases will just add to it. And many older people like Adele too, so she's gonna be relevant for decades to come.

There's tremendous tour demand for her too. She had to cancel the Vegas shows, with record $2+ million gross per show, but she's gonna be at Hyde Park on July 1 and 2, so I hope that revives this era a little bit. Though she's said that she'd like to have another baby, so when it comes to commercial success, she's her own biggest enemy, lol.

Of course. Adele's second fanbase is simply EXTREMELY pressssssed at her, so they're trying to spread bitter false propaganda about her

She just underperforming, that’s understandable and happens to every pop girl

We know she is. ATRL =/= real life. :deadbanana4:

Exactly, she is huge.

What Adele achieved without gimmicks / PR is nothing but impressive. She is a huge force, a vocally talented lyricist.

It's as she always say she doesn't make music for eyes, she makes music for ears.

30 sold great but it's definitely not doing fine rn. Isn't 30 at #95 on billboard 200? No excuse for that.

We know that, it's only the pressed hags from this site who are acting as if she's over and ended :rip:

Overall it did fine but it was an underperformance for her and It’s nearly as out of the Top 100 so it’s not doing fine in the U.S and it’s Adele’s own fault for abandoning the era the way she did.

I believe it’s still doing well in some countries in Europe though but can’t be bothered to confirm.

it's because the lack of promo. some people don't even know that she released an album at all, i feel like. she literally did just one TV show.

she's deffo lost power in the US, but it really is her own fault. even with 25 she did so much more promo. 30 coulda done a million plus first week if she did the late night TV run again, but no.

1 - Let's not pretend that 30 is selling thousands of physical copies weekly.

2 - Streaming not being her main strength is not an excuse. Like you said, the industry is all about streaming. If she's not good at it, it does show she's not as popular as she used to be.

3 - I wouldn't call 2011 and 2015 the pure sales era. 21 and 25 were MASSIVE success in an era where selling albums was already hard, which means Adele has swum against the current before and still managed to sell monstrously and beat everybody else. Now, she just can't do that.

3 - She's doing fine though and 30 still is a successful album. But her popularity fell hard and she's far from unbeatable now.

Still, not even being one of the top 3 albums of the year of its release is a decline for Adele, and and A lister in the streaming era not spending a year in the BB200 top 100 is cause for concern.

I think she just needs more hits. I agree she was bigger before, but it's mostly bcuz 21 has Rolling in the deep, someone like you and Set fire to the rain, which are still getting great streams. 25 was already a decline bcuz it only had Hello. although when we were young is getting better streams now. and hello kinda fell off. and tiktok matters so much now. Love in the dark was a trend a year ago and it's permanently getting over 300k streams on spotify ever since. for me 30 is her best album but it lacks the highlights of 21.

Wonder what/who will beat her first week 839k sales then.

Of course she is. The first weeks of availability of the albums prove it.

But yeah, with her long absence and the post-25 hype not being as huge as the post-21 one and the "Adele mania" slowing down, if she wants longevity and stability on the charts, she needs to play the game again, release more singles and do promo (and replan those Vegas shows :rip:).

30 is still doing fine on streaming. It's just not the typical album full of 2:00 minute songs that people play over and over again.

Now, she just can't do that.

Cause she's not promoting nor worried about pleasing the part of her base that would stream her music.

She needs to work harder these days to stay relevant in that department, but she's chosen Rich's D.

there are many new and older releases doing better in pure weekly .. it's out of 60-70 in bb200 (pure sales) one and streaming wise it's more worse .. all these threads and false facts to deflect away from fact that gp is not connecting with her and she's just flopping isn't hard to admit especially when stats back this up .. and about promotion , you don't promote your album for years and years if you are not someone new to be in public eye especially when your marketing campaign before and during album release was strong and big and made everyone aware album is coming

having your album banners in every monument of world isn't promo ig than idk what is..

On the one hand, she did do massive rollout promo and is underperforming by her own standards.

On the other, this is just another example of what ATRL stanbases do. They set insane expectations for artists they want to see fail so that when someone hasn't met their impossible standards they can say, "See? She flopped."

An 80% drop from the last album isn't "fine", and yes that's how much it is, 80%

Success is always relative to expectations and investments

Everybody knows this. It's only that stan base that thinks otherwise.
