Gaga used to always talk about her fascination with the decay of the superstar, the rise and fall etc. Did she build herself up 2008-2011 and fall in 2013 on purpose? She started making minimal effort, doing things that would turn the GP off her, picked singles that would never be hits and gave up with the high budget visuals. Was this part of a plan to explore the decay of the superstar?

No, the greater the peak, the faster and bigger the fall. It was bound to happen like always.

Yeees, just like Miss Cindy Lauper, they decided to not being successful superstars after 3 years.

To be honest the singles should have been Venus, Gypsy then Do What U Want. Venus has that anthemic lead single chorus that could have Beene legendary like Bad Romance even if the verses are a bit weird. And Gypsy would have smashed

A lot of it was self inflicted though. She could have picked herself up again if she wanted to, but she chose to do nothing/the wrong thing 

We were meant to have moved on from this trauma-induced conspiracy by now Little Qanonsters. She just flopped like everyone does at some point.

Based on the 2012 MonsterVisions she released, it seems like that was the original theme, but she decided to abandon it. It just happened organically.

Just my theory but I've always suspected that she intended for ARTPOP to be "subversive" by being intentionally problematic? As a way to place the artist before the art in a roundabout twisted way.

Not trying to pass off underperformance as some sort of intentional, "artistic" exercise.

and also No. as much as i love ARTPOP, gaga tried to do too many things and was too ambitious not to mention her declining mental health and many other factors, in conclusion: Artpop simply flopped

ARTPOP was literally just one bad decision after another it does beg the question if it was all planned 

Lol, I obviously wouldn't say deliberately, she definitely didn't want it. But I think there was something oddly prophetic about her early commentary on the decay and rise/fall of a pop star coming true before our eyes with her

This. She definitely thought Artpop was gonna be big, but I think she always knew she would fall at some point and a lot of Artpop feels like it was written by somebody who felt doomed. 

Yes, I think so. She tried to pull off what others did in the past and it totally backfired. Other artists expressed their "dark era" and stayed on top while Gaga didn't accomplish that and slept with Bradley Cooper to get back on tabloids.
