Didn't bother subjecting myself to Shitweb after the reception it got here... yet more evidence that I value the opinions of atrl horror homos!

 

OT: FNAF was boring and lame but at least I got to stare at Mr Hutcherson and his dickensian-street-urchin-pleading-for-a-tuppence eyes for 90 minutes!

Yeah, I am inclined to agree that When Evil Lurks is definitely not all that.
Aside from it being hybrid of types of horror I don’t enjoy ( Evil Dead/The Crazies ) with a hint of Children of the Corn ( and while at that, we have seen this exact demon/Satan at the end of I Trapped the Devil ), the only thing I have enjoyed is the scenery and cinematography. Atmosphere didn’t deliver tension, nor fright, dynamic was okay, but everything just happens and is there. It works better as a story. 
However, there are details I have considered to be valuable: don’t fire arms on possessed ones ( this feels like subtle, sublime anti-fire arms parabolae and message ); children being symbol of naivety and susceptibility to demon; animals’ significance in demon’s lore; disorders such as autism being intertwined with demonology ( we can sometimes hear how people look down on mental patients with an explanation that they have been trapped by bad spirits/evil/demons etc. ). 
Despite those nice little additions, movie doesn’t stick with me.
