Actually, I am having trouble compiling and ranking half of them since several are competing for bottom 5/10. In other news, I appreciate what they have done with Saw X. Such self-indulgent body horror and torture porn at least being backed up by some interesting narrative and characters. 1

However, the foundations of my respect have faced no greater challenge than they have tonight thanks to the abomination that is When Evil Lurks. Today was my birthday, and I thought I would save a wildly acclaimed new horror movie for an evening in with my bf, only to be confronted with the worst movie I have watched this year. My boyfriend says it's the worst movie I've ever made him watch and yes, I have already subjected him to the polarising filmography of Mr Zombie. My evening is ruined and you are ALL to blame. 9 1

Leptine Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Now I'm even more curious to check 'When Evil Lurks', I should manage to watch it this weekend, I kept 'Talk to Me' for Halloween in order to have a decent one and I wasn't disappointed, definitely the best horror of the year after 'Evil Dead Rise', although as you know I always check also Imdb, Metacritic, Letterboxd, granted they're not always accurate, for example when it comes to 'Malignant' they're totally off but the movie overcame them back in the day with word of mouth, in general when it comes to Horror movies they tend to be accurate since I don't have time to check all the releases like time ago and these days I check only the ones that make more noise in positive way or that seems more interesting to me.

Mia Goth we need you girl Agree, 'X' and 'Pearl' releases felt like events in the Horror scene that this year no movie couldn't replicate so far, I fear next year it's gonna be even worse because of this year strike but at least we're gonna have both 'MaXXXine' and 'Terrifier 3' so I'm personally satisfied with these two releases already. However I'm very hyped and curious for Eli Roth 'Thanksgiving', I haven't watched the trailer (I rarely do since they spoil too much), but it has the potential to be the best Horror of the year if he has played his card correctly. 1
