Because they want us to believe that YG is some kind of musical genius and Yes SM buys many western demos and also hire people from several countries to join their writing camps, considering they do like 20+ releases per year it is only logical they do this to have a amount of songs that can cover up the demand. YG on the other side not only release little to no music, their material is also unispired, repetitive, and recycled.

It's not a SM thing, all groups with US labels do that now. JYP has been doing that for years with TWICE and ITZY. And didn't TWICE buy Zara, Ryan Tedder and Jade Thirlwall's demos?

Yeah JYP buys demos just as much as SM does. They even buy the Kenzie rejects that SM decides are not good enough to give to its own groups

 

Difference between them is SM has copied the writing camp technique that big western artists such as Rihanna have used in the past, and it's been very successful so far. So they are now buying less demos. 

 

YG relies too much on a tiny number of in house producers, plus their entire company only works on 1 group/artist at a time, so everything is slow slow slow.

+ the fact that buying demos from a western producer does not = trying to pander to the US? Power Up, ICC, ZZB, RF, DTNA and more have been made by western producers and these are clearly not attempts of western pandering.

The problem in YG is not the songwriters or producers but literally the staffs. They simply cannot produce and promote more than 1 group at a time. At one point Bobby, Mino, Akmu and someone else had their albums ready and it took like 8 monthes to release all of them.

I think it's a combination of both. Because the company staff only work on 1 thing at a time, so do the producers, which is a bad thing because they are the ones giving YG artists their music.

 

There is also a lot of recycling going on. For example, Somi clearly had to wait until BP had released or rejected songs, so that she could pick up their scraps.
