Honestly, it's a bit mind boggling to me as well. And I feel like the entire industry is in cahoots about it with each other and everybody is sajaegi-ing their artists to the maximum amount possible and we're gonna learn about the scammery in maybe 10 years to come, when everbody's star has faded. :deadbanana2:

Collectable things that were once declared dead like collectable sports cards are hotter than ever.  And what is a kpop album if not a fancy box for a collectable card.

Let’s make a funeral for EVERGLOW as well since they are in a very critical situation. Maybe this funeral might help them like it did with ITZY and BP and make them smash and become the new 4th gen leaders :dancehall:

The EVERGLOW girlies have arrived to their own funeral as ghosts

It’s really impressive and if it keeps on growing like this then the Kpop market might be the number 1 music market worldwide in a few years, since the Western market is low-key dead right now. Western artists today can only dream to have these Kpop sales :deadbanana2:

The bubble is gonna burst before the market is gonna overtake the USA or Japan though. It's only like a matter of time until it comes crashing down, it would be a bit silly to assume that the growth is just gonna continue.

What's also interesting that this huge spike of sales only happens to artists with Korean major label backing and established fanbases, regular artists aren't benefitting at all from the upswing of general sales. It's more like 100 out of 100,000 albums being extreme outliers that push up the volume of sales. And if you look at how the sales are spread between the Top 100, it's obvious that the market isn't as stable as the continously high volumes of album sales want to suggest. It's also not unheard of that #1 albums drop of the charts completely after hitting #1 on first week sales, and then re-enter weeks later, restocks of old albums can push EPs of 2016 into the Top 10 of 2022 (like right now with Red Velvet's restock). The market is still kind of volatile and can be tinkered with very easily.

SM artists and recently Starship should be exposed.

Is Hyein meant to be the center in NJ? I see her the most in the middle so i'm wondering if that's how she's being pushed. Or is it because she is actually a model turned singer so they think she looks best in the middle? Who is the center in this group anyway?

:ahh:I swear you are all obssesed with SM. They've always led when it comes to album sales:dies: S.E.S, BoA, TVXQ, SNSD, etc always sold amounts that were above the average. These sales are nothing new for the company but Starship, JYP or YG are first timers when it comes to outstanding album sales, even Hybe because the Enhypen sales are... Well whatever, the thing is you have groups like NMIXX selling a ton, Enhypen that came out a flop show outselling Wanna One like it's nothing but ofc the aespa sales are the "fishy" ones when SM had the best selling female album with BoA up until The Album in 2020:dies:

Not me getting a Facebook ad from BP saying “Buy BP’s new 3.99 album!” No Joke :ahh:

This thread been really quiet since that BP sales announcement. :fan:

Losers.

The way all of these albums  are from 2022 as well, like how did the Kpop market grow so much within a year?  :deadbanana2:

wait its really all 2022 albums :deadbanana:

you really can only compare album releases/sales from the year it was released tbh not with the overall list cause the sales esp for ggs just keep growing and growing

poor boy groups the girls are coming to snatch and i'm here for it :jonny5:

Y’all realize BlackPink just sold 2.2M copies, right? This is the first time since 2011 that the top release of the year will be by a female artist :clap3:

Proof will be #1, sadly.

If SNSD had such best selling album for female today would THEY have a flop streams of 20M opening week on Spotify?

Just bought Born Pink for $3.99 on iTunes and finished streaming it for the third time (each) on Spotify and Apple Music. Can’t believe this thread isn’t more motivated to push a Korean female act to a record #1 on the BB200.

I can. If this was 2 years ago, sure. But YG is scamming their fans with another 8 song thrown together project and they'll just go right back to hiatus after this doing nothing but posting insta pictures so I'm not surprised two years of no group content or actual attempt at making something grand has uninspired many.

But streams or whatever! :coffee2:

As much as I want the pinks to have a legendary and iconic #1 debut on BB200

I also want YG to SUFFER and be embarrassed after all the bare minimum they're doing all this era.

idk I really want the girls to get the #1 cause they deserve it but if they get it YG will become so cocky and confident again and will keep treating the girls like this

oh well

It’s the grey market in China. It’s the same reason videogame sales have absolutely skyrocketed - they’re shipping a **** ton to China and they’re being sold as if the market is a free market.

There’s even more room for growth if China ever officially opens their market.

the uglee bots will still be #1 unless Born Pink sells 3.4m on Gaon/Circle

Minji will be the center next comeback. Guarantee it with her popularity in Korea :rip:

she's the youngest 14 y.o aka minheejin's fave :cm:

Min Heejin is such a weirdo, in the worst way. This is probably the reason Hyein is in the center most often.

The fact that SNSD had the highest selling album of the year in 2011 over all boygroups isnt acknowledged enough tbh

The true indicator of their power at that time

Just as expected, they shipped closer to the YG preorder announcement of 2 million and not the 3.5 million some fans had made up somehow in their minds.

congrats

I just realized that Sullyoon and Karina are the only official visuals I've ever heard be able to actually hold a tune. Vocally talented visuals is such a rarity.
