I think Wa Da Da was a lot more (internationally) public friendly song than Up. It had so much attitude and was actually memorable. I'm not surprised it turned into a decently sized hit ww. Up is so.. standard girl group fare, like something fromis would have released

Let's not confuse the GP as in overall GP with the GP of Kpop fans.

 

There are millions upon millions of people WW who like/stan kpop. They do not automatically stream songs for no reason, only hardcore dedicated stans do.

 

That being said, when a song is sitting at 1-1.5M streams and it's considered a "global hit" via kpop standards, that's essentially very telling that it's not the actual GP. when "Global hits" with the actual GP easily get 5m+ streams.

 

TLDR; There is a K-POP fan GP and a overall GP. The only groups who have been able to eclipse the K-POP fan GP are BTS and BP.

I think I worded that poorly

I meant that not only stans of both groups (IVE-Nayeon/TWICE) are streaming the songs but also general k-pop listeners as well.

Oh yeah I'd agree with that 100%. The issue with aespa and Itzy right now is they are not appealing to people outside of their fanbase. And if you go to their performance videos, audios, etc. You'll see people saying it's not their favorite song. 

 

If they are releasing songs even their biased fans do not like, it's very obvious why it's not clicking with the Korean GP or general kpop listeners.

 

It's amazing how people in this thread say "THIS SONG SUCKS ASS!" then 2 minutes later "OMG WHY IS IT FLOPPING?"

from BTS hiatus announcement and Jungkook’s collab to J.Hope’s solo it all looks so chaotic and mis-managed

 

they announced more solo work starting from J.Hope, but suddenly JK dropped collab with Charlie 

 

J.Hope doesn’t have physicals, no performances… even BP solos got more attention and promo possibilities and people are constantly mentioning how mis-managed they are… not to mention they got their solos earlier too

 

I know those were only 5 songs in total, but still, more effort was put into that than in the first official solo from BTS member 

 

if it will look like that for all of them then those will be such missed opportunities… they really don’t want them to believe they can stand on their own without BTS brand
