im sorry but its looks like she was forced to go on stage I don't think she would go on stage with no prep like that if it meant a potential comeback

She was there because she wanted to. It's fine if you didn't like the performance (it clearly had its flaws) but there's no need for made up narratives.

I think her going on stage was a good thing. Coming back after ten years when she's dedicated much of that time to her kids and family and businesses and all the changes she's had physically and emotionally since then is bound to come with enormous pressure. The pressure only got bigger the longer she stayed away from music. She's setting herself up for a lot of criticism both from people who didn't really care about her and would like to see her fail as well as fans who waited a long time and will go after her if they're not satisfied with the era.

At the end of the day she's only human. A platform like the concert is a good way for her to find her footing and regain the courage to be on a big stage again. Rihanna has talked about her stage fright since 2007, and that a good part of the persona she has on stage and in public is made of "faking it till you make it". I think she did well despite everything considered, should she have sung more of the parts to the songs? Yes. Should she have had more energy to the performance? Yes. But she sounded just fine and her voice isn't gone at all like some people were sure it was. She sounds just the same as she did ten years ago. But I don't know what exactly some of y'all were expecting from a random Jay Z appearance, I was surprised that she performed more than just Run This Town.

If she's coming back this time (🤡) I'm ready to undust my old and rusted stan card again and go against haters, that if she releases and tours a bit at least - she can do major cities and wrap the tour with no more than 30 dates, that should be manageable for her.

If not, however, I'll be more than happy to punch that coconut head over and over again in every single thread/ig post/everywhere. She can't play this time, we wont be playing either, so come thru Rhi Rhi

As for the direction, if she's cooked up something, I just wish and hope it's not Queen inspired stuff. I'll stan regardless, but 💀

I think they're testing the waters to see if it's worth releasing an Album or just a single...

Also the fact that the Freddie Mercury inspo thing came from The Sun, of all sources, should have been a sign. I wonder if her team reached out and had it taken down and that's why it was deleted.

Also I think we should be realistic about the tour if those tickets do ever go up. She's probably going to do a lot less dates because she has small kids now. I think she should organize it around time, even if it takes longer with more breaks in between legs. The last thing we want is that the era exhausts her to the point of another very long hiatus.

Anybody who thinks she was ever a bad live performer should do a LOUD Tour rewatch. Ms Energizer Bunny was running all over the stage, doing choreo, throwing her head in every direction like the Exorcist all while singing live and sounding great!!! She's been away a while and needs to rekindle her flame for the stage but it's in her.

I honestly think they should take it seriously that there is a sentiment that people are hungry for R9, the only gamble is which direction is she going to take.

I hope what's taking the music so long is Rih knowing she really has to craft an album that is truly personal a la Rated R. When I think of albums I would want to inspire her direction for R9 the only album I think would work wonderfully is The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. If we could just get a song like To Zion, the wait would be worth it just for that

Considering the latest Madonna's release and the last Rih's album - all it takes is a good album/ep or a string of good songs, doesn't matter the direction. The goodwill is there, she has to come up with quality.

Also, her catalogue is so versatile, she scored hits with ballads, pop, dance, house, hip hop, dancehall, people are there for her, but she gotta wash her ears to get that Midas touch back again. Plus, Anti wasn't done to chase the hits, yet she succeeded = the album is a hit, and has plenty of hits off it too.

She will most likely do residencies in a few cities around the world, like lots of artists have been doing lately.

And I can see her doing festivals outside of these residencies too.

After Midnights, Short n' Sweet, Mayhem and now C2. Pop Music has been in a strong foothold since the 2010's.

She could return to Pop and ride the momentum while it's peaking, but I want her to surprise us! R9 could be something you'd least expect her to do!

She'll surprise us with the EP release of Breaking Dishes remixes

But yeah, pop is popping currently. She's detached herself from pop, but I'd the most surprised if she came with an album filled with pop bops honestly, a reintroduction of the hit machine Rihanna

The way BBHMM would have been her 15th #1 if it was released today. It was truly ahead of its time.

This performance lives rent free in my mind.

No shade but the fact that we have to discuss it in-depth or consider all these factors is kind of the point. If you think of the last 20 times she's sang publicly, at least 12 of them would require us to make one excuse or the other. In the end, it's really simple. She sounded kinda bad, for the same reason she's sounded that way in the past: she's careless and doesn't really take things seriously. Even before watching that performance I could predict exactly what she would do. I know some fans think she just has these permanent limitations (which is weird cos being a fan means actually believing in someone) but in reality there isn't a single one of these 'problems' she has that she can't actually deal with if she wants to.

Also in general it's just really funny to stay away from the stage for so long and then, instead of reminding people of why they should miss you, you remind them of your shortcomings.

The performance was exactly what I expected to be… actually run this town sounded better than I thought but I enjoyed it keeping in mind that she didn't HAVE to give us anything.

Judging by the way she was dressed it was clearly a "mom's night out having fun" and not meant to be anything special.. and she looks great given she had her daughter only 10 months ago. I did notice sudden weight loss within the last couple months (I'm guessing it was for this gig) but she's still in the middle of that journey too.

And for her to say "I missed this ****" was a big stepping stone for her cause I feel like in the moment she did miss it.

She did not sound bad on the song that requires singing. In fact you could barely hear her. Everyone is just threatened by her lol. Teyena sounded way worse and Beyonce lipsynced.
