Vinyls can be delayed tho, right? Can we not just do that? Or does that make their sales not count? 

If the vinyls not ready about time the album is release the sales won't count in the first week

For the vinyl sales to count it has to be shipped. On one hand, I think Nicki has enough streaming/digital sales pull to get a #1 without the physical sales but I think she wants a huge first week for her own ego. The vinyl shipping later would actually be a good thing (it could give the album a second wind, possibly even return to #1). If I remember correctly, Taylor released Evermore in December 2020 and the vinyl/physical CDs shipped in June 2021 which actually sent it back to #1

If she's just finishing recording now, her producers still needs to mix, master, make edits (i.e., get her back in the booth) if necessary, etc. Even if everything goes according to plan and she really does finish this week, it's Nicki. We know 2 weeks from now she'll get on Twitter talking about, "I just wrote the best song I've ever written" and the cycle will repeat. Girl cannot stick to a deadline to save her life.
