So, she literally said nothing interesting in the speech and looked like a caricature of herself once again.

She truly has lost the fire of being a bad *****. She has been serving nothing but tired and lazy since 2019.

 

Yolanda is how old? and still serving VOCALS, Mariah literally can't anymore.

We're just going to have to accept that no one will ever do a proper tribute to her, it's vocally impossible. The only way to sing a Mariah song properly is not to sing it note for note, but to sing it smart with a good arrangement. No one has really done the work and they seem to just sing it impromptu on the spot without any preparation.

 

The only person who got close to singing it smart was Kelly doing Fantasy. It was cute, inoffensive, and respectful and didn't change the structure of the song to the point where it was unrecognizable, and it wasn't a bunch of wailing to hit notes that, sure, you could hit, but you once you're up there you're not doing anything musically satisfying. 

 

Reminds me of how people try to do Whitney tributes singing IWALY and the crowd goes crazy when they hit the same note Whitney did but they have none of the power, clarity, or delivery. 

 

Mariah understands this, which is why her tributes are always fantastic. Patti LaBelle's If Only You Knew/Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Stevie Wonder's You and I. Even Diana Ross and Love Hangover/Heartbreaker. 

 

To be so talented and self-aware and do the work! Ugh! My ADHD brain could never.

I can't with her. ***** always serving when nothing is going on for ha (i.e promotions, awards, albums etc)

But always looks a MESS when big things are happening.
