Lady Gaga

This is part 1 of the Lady Gaga discussion.

I don't think Replay would've done much better than Stupid Love chart-wise. But the longevity + overall era reception would've been much better.

Stupid Love is a hit, Top10 in every bigger country and decents streams.

SL did what he had to do and it's one more hit in his career

Mark Ronson forgetting his two biggest songs, Shallow & Uptown Funk, hitting #1 in the UK :skull:

Picking Stupid Love as lead single was a huuuge f***ing mistake, whether the song, the video or the fact that she released it officially one month after it leaked :skull: A Star Is Born's Era deserved a better successor especially when she decided coming back to her electro-pop roots and there was expectation. Everythin was chaotic af with the COVID pandemic, tho :rip: How it should've been: Alice (promo single), Enigma or Replay (lead single), Rain On Me (second single) and Babylon (third single). Serve some cute visuals, remixes and those speed versions for Tik Tok and call it a day :coffee2:

Yes and A Star is Born is once in a lifetime moment for a superstar like her.

Thank god that none of you are managing her or in her team. :rip:

Her career would plummet and stagnate because it's clear that some of you are stuck in 2011-2013.

Gaga is in a stable place with her Jazz pursuits, Haus Labs and Acting Career.

And yes, Having Haus Labs was a good and successful venture. It's better than having her own clothing brand and perfume.

Curious... was Ariana able to release live performances celebrating the 10 year anniversary of her first album because they were released on YouTube (since Google is not a major studio)? I think she's already part of SAG since they already shot Wicked.

Finally letting go of the old Gaga ( especially the one in her 20s) is extremely liberating. I will forever cherish that specific phase of her career with all my heart but wanting her to stay forever that way artistic - wise is extremely dangerous and toxic. That shite can 100% turn you into an OGH. No joke.

What do you think the difference is "artistic-wise"?

Judas or Alejandro.

Oh I meant artwise, sorry. :gaycat7:

In my opinion, her craft is not as polished as it used to be, unclear ideas that are not executed properly, quality of MVs have decreased etc. And I know some of you think she's never been polished to begin with, but yes, she was.

But my point is that I only focus on the positive aspects nowadays which are clearly a lot.

SL gets too much hate when it's just a fun bop and gave her another cute Top 5 record

1) most of y'all played it to death when it leaked and then for whatever reason expected an entirely new song once it officially dropped

and

2) it was gonna be a mere 5 week gap between SL and ROM and then the album a week later but it got pushed back an additional 7 more weeks because of that b*tch Corona

So many lies in just one post.

Stupid Love is not a fun bop it's a cheap stupid song that even after the enormous hype from Shallow managed to only go to #5 and then free fall.

Every decent single in the human history would have been #1 for at least 2 weeks after ASIB hype.

But the problem is not that it's just a major flop. On top of being a major disaster, it's also a horrible song, with cheap lyrics and cheap music video. You can't serve talent and non stop timeless classics like Shallow, ARUTW ,INLA, ITA and then have a song like Stupid Bomb as a lead single. Apart from this, because of that song we had to deal with 2 pandemics in 2020 and increase ear pain problems and lack of faith that her team have taste and know how to pick the correct singles, leading us to insecurity about the future.

So no Stupid Love is not a cute fun bop but it's the epitome of everything is terrible

Edited by little legend

Stupid Love is a great song, the "stupid" part is kinda cringe but it's pop music... who cares?
It just should've never been a single or at least a lead single.

When the Grammys bends their rules for Gaga, she surprise releases TCB in the next 2 weeks, and she wins Best Pop Solo Performance (Bloody Mary), Best Rock Performance (Gimme Shelter [Live]), Best Music Film, and Best Pop Dance Recording (Replay, released to promote special)

Stupid Love was a flop, there's nothing wrong with being in touch with reality. However, we are 3 years late with these claims.

I agree, But I would say 911 video and some photoshoots from Chromatica era were peak Gaga. ROM video could have been better. But at least we are on upward trajectory from whatever she served during Joanna era.

Also Chromatica ball was also very well executed, Enigma had me scared but she did what needed to be done.

imo Chromatica's problem (as much as I love it overall) is that it was too polished, there was none of the messiness that made an album like Born This Way so special
