Finally letting go of the old Gaga ( especially the one in her 20s) is extremely liberating. I will forever cherish that specific phase of her career with all my heart but wanting her to stay forever that way artistic - wise is extremely dangerous and toxic. That shite can 100% turn you into an OGH. No joke.

She doesn’t listen to her fan base, that is why she is so successful.
If she listened to her fans, she’d be releasing dated songs with redone and her albums would chart worse than Katy

I mean yeah I agree with you 100%

But if we focus solely on the fact that SL is in fact a bad song in terms of quality, we're not wrong, specially when she insisted on releasing it after getting leaked.

I hate to admit it but NRO >>> SL.

And I know that she's probably happy with that choice in 2023 still because she loves to stick with her artistic vision.

That doesn't mean it was the right move.

The thing about Katy is that her team knew how to execute singles and choose them. Gaga’s picks are some of the weakest, and make her discography seem weaker when her discography is actually much better than Katy’s.

Yup.

Katy made an effort with Smile. It has some interesting tracks imo. Her problem is image- wise. But yeah I obviously prefer Gaga's discography.

Replay alone > Smile.

Applause still got horribly overshadowed by a Sara Bareilles ripoff and Blurred Lines anyway. At least Aura and Sexxx Dreams would’ve sold the ALBUM and ERA better and continued Gaga’s legacy as a provocative artist. I think she needed to do a bit more to compete with Miley at the time in that department.

Sexxx Dreams/Aura were not gonna sell the album/era I need you to be serious now sis :rip: They still would have been completely overshadowed and demolished by Miley and those other songs. Probably even worse. Gaga was already miles more adventurous/controversial years before that. Trying to compete with Miley at the time would have made her look like a jealous hag. Truth is people were already starting to be exhausted and done with her shtick by that time, and being more provocative with her lead single would have backfired hard. Applause was pretty commercial outside of its verses that's why it worked. I mean technically she still did it with the 2nd single and look how that turned out. The mess haunted her for years and remains one of the worst decisions in her career. There's also the entire "Lady Gaga is OVER!!!" video and the being vomited on performance which only made people roll their eyes again at her. My sis was spiraling and her paranoia/insecurity got to her on top of all of the **** happening BTS.

Being provocative/controversial is so early 10s and trying it again would only ruin her legacy, but her adventurous and ambitious self will always pop out as we've seen in some moments during the Chromatica era and the tour.

ARTPOP only had four radio friendly songs and guess what? 3/4 were singles, the other being Gypsy.

Really wish she would surprise us with a 10 year anniversary edition with unreleased songs.

Stupid Love is a quality song. It is the most Bloodpopy song on Chromatica. It could have been Bloodpop- Stupid Love ft Lady Gaga. I understand why people may not like that, but it is still a fun anthem with a killer instrumental.

Fans hate it because it wasn’t a commercial success and the music video was a rushed disaster. If the song didn’t leak and had a better music video, fans would have liked it a lot better. Plus, Stupid Love was the only song we had when Chromatica was delayed with no updated release date. People overplayed it and had nothing else to latch on to. Which led to resentment towards the song

I get my life dancing to SL when I'm drunk and feeling all silly, so yes, it can definitely be a fun song. But what's wrong with us wanting her to make good decisions for her career that will translate into success? Specially after ASIB.

Let's just hope her next era will be executed properly without a ******* pandemic ruining everything.

Poker God above Shallord :ohwow: The way she managed to have a huge diamond smash ballad and a huge diamond mega smash bop! :duca:

Artpop era unfortunately had a cultural block going against it but the single choices were actually good. It was out of her control how far they could perform under the circumstances, but they were still logical choices.

Stupid Love wasn't a bad single choice inherently because it's decent radio candy, but what was a mistake was proceeding with the choice after the leak. Without a leak, it would have been bigger.

IMO, the only missfire lead Gaga has ever chosen (aside SL post-leak) was Perfect Illusion and I say that as a huge PI lover. As good as it is, it's just not the kind of song you return with after an underperforming era. Diamond Heart was right there.

The way this broke my heart if true. :biblionny:

I hope it's false because I love him.

DWUW could’ve worked with a different featured artist. The controversy of the video obviously would’ve been fine without that man…

This is honestly the first time I heard about this, actors are usually trained to kiss easily, he has been hired to play her love interest, it would have been very unprofessional a behavior like that.

With a quick calculation if JD keeps being this stable, along with ROM, she's gonna have two more 1 Billion songs by the end - beginning of the year.

lowkey the most iconic moment from the Chromatica era

Picking Stupid Love as lead single was a huuuge f***ing mistake, whether the song, the video or the fact that she released it officially one month after it leaked :skull: A Star Is Born's Era deserved a better successor especially when she decided coming back to her electro-pop roots and there was expectation. Everythin was chaotic af with the COVID pandemic, tho :rip: How it should've been: Alice (promo single), Enigma or Replay (lead single), Rain On Me (second single) and Babylon (third single). Serve some cute visuals, remixes and those speed versions for Tik Tok and call it a day :coffee2:

Agreeing on stupid love as lead single was a mistake but Enigma, Replay for subtitution? noooo...if Chromatica were released on early 2010 then maybe Replay could have chance.

Tea. Replay with a high budget video and boom! you have an acclaimed lead single, by both, critics and stans. :WAP: Fadga needs young people like us in her hag team!

The fact it took me several listen to liked Stupid Love, I was pretending to like the song for days. I still had faith on her (unlike GP that dropped the song really fast after their first listen, i dont blame them though) so that song finally clicked on me a week later.. but yeah Alice/Replay would have been better lead single, it might be not debut higher than SL but it sure will have better longevity + those two songs are fans favorite...

The last couple pages...

The way some of you still so badly want her to position herself as the next Madonna or whatever when she's busy blazing her own trail as an artist. Sad.
