August 1, 20233 yr comment_24274865 Some records which will be fun to see if FAD can beat, from most to least likely: - Biggest October opening weekend (currently held by the first Joker with $96m; solid chance of this becoming the first October movie to open with $100m+). - Biggest fall opening weekend (currently held by IT with $123m). - Biggest opening weekend for an R movie (currently held by Deadpool’s $132m). - Biggest opening weekend for a Warner Bros movie (currently held by Deathly Hallows Part 2 with $169m). While we are still way too far out $100m - $120m OW range is what I’m thinking as of now; Joker as a character and Joaquin’s portrayal feels far too popular to open less than the original especially throwing Harley / Gaga and their controversial dynamic into the mix that is such an easy marketing strategy. But as much as I would love to see FAD take Harry Potter’s 13 year record after Barbie came so close I think it’s asking for far too much of an increase to happen. Deadpool’s record feels like the stretch that could be managed if things blow up at the higher end depending on how the third movie opens next May.
