Most actors do like 2-3 movies every year and most of them flops and Gaga comesback with a bang every 2-3 years 

I think it's because she has to. I remember reading they all have to sign and agree to promote the movie, and if the movie takes off during award season, participate in awards compaigns.

But to be fair this doesn't take into account the side projects. The worst wait is still BTW -> ARTPOP to me. At least she's doing stuff now. Between acting, the Jazz albums, the tributes era, etc she truly never took a proper hiatus from music.

I wouldn't say BTW -> AP a whole but mainly the end of it, so Feb-July '13. It was the absolute WORST because a) she'd broken her hip and the tour got cut short, b) she was wheelchair bound the entire time and c) radio silence, no public appearances, social media blackout. Occasionally we'd see her being carried places in "Emma" but that was it. It was just horrible and it was hard to see her like that. Nobody really knew when AP era would start (and all the teasing and anticipation didn't help either, dd) but luckily she recovered fast.

 

At least we got the iconic Fame perfume mini-era and some fun stuff like Stache and CLLG during that wait. And following BTWB around the world was pretty fun. Princess Die  Also some messy moments like The Skype Ball. She used to be a lot more active (and messy) on Twitter and would tease her recording process and talk to the fans on Twitter/LM.com

 

But yeah, looks like we have a new frontrunner for this record, even though she's still active and busy doing other things

That could happen for Joker soundtrack, apparently it's jazzy influenced original music she worked on with Alex Smith.

this kinda puts into perspective how excellent Gaga’s back catalogue is holding up. Ariana is the original pop girl streaming queen and Gaga’s older hits are doing better. On Friday Gaga’s top 5 did over 800k

The Joanne -> Chromatica one is unfair cuz ASIB was original music, so the record (AP to Joanne) is definitely broken 

The drought of Joanne - Chromatica was the worst for me because that’s when I was old enough to actually engage in Gaga stannings. And she kinda lost me a little bit in like 2017-2018 before ASIB came out because I went from liking Joanne to absolutely despising it  I like it again tho

It has great longevity tbh. It went viral in SEA and still casually charts on Spotify/AM there. Ballads tend to hold up better imo too.

Gaga's hits are huge currently.  The difference is that Ariana's streams are more spread out so she has more hits/album tracks doing +20k, +50k, +100k, etc streams in her catalog. But she's a streaming era girl and was the reigning streaming queen for years so it really shows how great Gaga's growth on streaming is.

I could be wrong, but the way things are unfolding is younger kids are discovering other album tracks as they start streaming the viral ones, and so the backlog could slowly get stronger. Really hope TEOG takes off next, it deserves to be on Applause level. The release of j:dad will also most probably give a boost since it’s related to music.
