I remember on my first time watching saying "Maybe this is a reference to a very specific culture, but it just seems like a bunch of random things to me", i was sad cuz i love 911 song. Then plot twist hits, and oh wow truly the Gaga experience, you never know whats next, had she released 911 during TFM era it'd been a hit and the video a huge event. Chromatica as a whole is such a good album and had so much potential, the very few performances, videos and photoshoot she gave were so good (except for SL video...), TCB was brutal and she was on full pop star mode. Well I 100% have come to appreciate ARTPOP now, like that was a risk and she was extremely passionate about the concept. She was doing ARTPOP like all her career without naming it though I do think the blandness described in Chromatica by people is probably not wanting to repeat the past and make it more commercial.
