With being the only nomination for the movie NN is the only way they can reward that movie, it's not an end credit song and it has a key scene in the movie, I honestly don't see the song missing the Oscar, they also have campaigned a lot with screenings and events during January.

Why would they want to go out of their way to reward a movie that wasn’t even nominated in any other category? There was obviously not much love for that movie considering it couldn’t get into anywhere else. 
Sometimes movies with 10 nominations, that are beloved by the academy, go home empty handed. No one is going to lose sleep if they don’t reward RRR with an Oscar

Indeed, sometimes movies with 10 nominations don't win anything, sometimes movies with only 1 nomination end up winning their only 1 nomination, you can make a case for both scenarios.

 

There's also another stat, so far no song that won both Golden Globe and Critics Choice missed the Oscar win if nominated, there's no reason to doubt NN frontrunner status, an upset is not impossible but it's pointless right now hoping for a HMH win.

Considering Gaga luckiness with awards, if there has to be an upset, watch 'Lift me Up' ending up winning.

 

It's not impossible, but there's no valid reason to doubt NN and to hope for a HMH win at this point, if not setting up for another disappointment.

Different scenario, Golden Globe and Critics Choice went to two different songs that year, 'Naatu naatu' has won both, there's no reason in hoping to an upset, plus there also 'Lift Me Up' in the race from a popular movie that can get or split votes from HMH.

For me it's better not having expectations, especially if we talk about 'upset', then people are obviously free to think-hope what they want, just hope to not see meltdowns over here during Oscar night.

same difference. NN is a no1curr movie aside from film twitter, the entire industry has embraced and flowered AQOTWF as its international pick. LMU is not really gonna do anything, last year we had Encanto blowing up and peaking right before final voting, and that still made no substantial difference to the Bond song

HMH still has a lot going for it. It is attached to a Best Picture nominated movie. BOS typically goes to a Best Picture nominated movie or an animated movie (or a Bond theme). The only 2 songs that fit in those categories are HMH and This Is A Life. 
 

Naatu Naatu has won most of the bigger precursors, but I am unsure Oscar voters will go for it. 
 

Anyway, Gaga doesn’t need this win. But having 2 BOS wins would be a major achievement 

this is why i'm on the edge when it comes to for whom to root. i'm leaning towards NN, but HMH seems to have so much more going for it. idek.

Since she presented last year, no one can really say she's being petty or anything. Honestly, as a fan, I hope she only goes if she goes big with the performance & goes full Hollywood star (plane on stage, presented by Tom Cruise, a great gown, beautiful gown on the red carpet, no trying to make her pressence smaller with suits or black dresses etc.) 

If it was just Gaga or just Rih, I'd say that either one could upset but that's not the case. And I don't think there's a clear choice between the two. HMH is attached to a BP nominee and a very known name to the Academy. LMU has a strong narrative behind it, would give a win to a new person, and is attached to a film currently surging (Bassett being the current SA frontrunner). And neither song has any strong passion by itself. They could split the same vote. 

i mean if she wants to be around like HEY OSCARS i am here. after HOG SNUB, makes sense she would go..or if she wants to be away from it and smash out of nowhere next year with joker would be okay too

No consolation Oscar for the horrendous snub that took place last year. Only a Best Actress victory next year for the spider marvel iron cat man movie, here we go!
