I kinda agree with you, but I'm sure Gags won't rest that soon. I could see her taking a 2 year break max, considering she's been working non-stop since 2008. But we still have lots of stuff (including new music) coming up!

 

 

What I wish for is that she loves her next music and has fire in her eyes to create her best body of work yet. I know she can do it, specially now that she is in a better place.

What is it about Scheibe that's so good? I can't pinpoint it. I love it but is it actually a good song or is it just some trashy euro dance club song that gays on drugs little monsters have an affinity for? Sorry to say there's at least 6 superior quality songs on BTW.

She is not greatest musicians of all time. She has things to prove. The most urgent thing is that she needs masterpiece like Melodrama or Norman Fuckin Rockwell or Lemonade. Album that will make her go legendary level. TFM and BTW is not enough.

Most of these are just overly praised, very people listen or remembers to Melodrama/Lemonade.

What you are saying is just hating. They are few albums that will define 2010s with excellent musicality. If you can't accept it just look at the Year end lists of critics and all time list of Rolling Stone.

Judging albums by sales is most stupid thing that I ever heard  That might suggest Post Malone and Ed Sheeran are the most remembered artists of 2010s right?

I don't think people (including fans) sometimes fully understand that Gaga is an "ahead of her times" kind of artist who always manages to get her flowers in due time. She just does whatever she wants to do and not care about what the world has to say about it, and then move on to her next venture.

 

Over the years, I have noticed that whatever she does is not appreciated/rewarded/recognized as much in the present in but then years later when people have had the time to revisit her past eras, understand where she was coming from, why she made certain decisions, the full scope of her artistry and artistic choices, that they have a newfound appreciation and love for her albums and eras. 

 

We saw that happen with TF/TFM, we are seeing it with BTW now and also we're starting to see it with AP a bit as well with the reclamation and retrospective reviews and I'm pretty sure we'll see more next year. Wouldn't be surprised if years down the line her other albums also get their time to shine.

 

We should just enjoy the ride. Gaga is one of the few contemporary artists who's truly memorable solely because she's interesting, talented, has a strong artistic compass, and has had a tangible impact on people's lives.

Did we talk about this? Credible or not, they start filming in two months so this seems reasonable.

I know that Gaga's impact and legacy is HUGE more than any pop star in the world

but when did Beyonce became Beyonce we know now? It was after her fifth-sixth album which were BEYONCE - Lemonade

When was Lana Del Rey considered a legendary singer songwriter following Joni Mitchell and Carole King? It was after NFR

When did Kanye West became legend? It was after MBDTF and Yeezus

When did Madonna considered seriously in industry? It was after ROL

Sales and hits are important but when it comes to status of artists, making praised album comes first and this is perfect timing for Gaga.

Being legendary is about staying power, memorability and influence. It's not sales, acclaim or followers.

 

Naturally, there are some exceptions (i.e. "Thriller is the best selling album of all time") but mostly when people talk about someone being a legend, they cite largely intangible sentiments like "___ shaped the industry", "everyone knows ___" etc. Someone cements themselves as a legend when the naysayers are drowned out by the majority opinion over time.

 

Gaga is well on her way there. It doesn't matter what her albums sell, or are rated as. That's not where her validation comes from. There's been a very noticeable shift in aforementioned intangible sentiment on her these past 5 years. From 'fun but flash in the pan pop phenomenon' to 'oh she really is an all-round entertainer like we haven't seen in decades'. 

 

What I DO think will move her along in that journey is an acting Oscar. Because that's a symbol of validation that everyone gets. Metacritic etc is niche.

I kinda agree here, the only thing left for Gaga to prove in the music industry is that universally acclimated album and i feel it's coming with LG7 (probably in 2026).
