TDD's hype lasted less than Gaga's screen time in Joker 2:suburban:

Yeah, such a missed opportunity.

The song is what it is, but the MV could have been SO MUCH better. Still don't understand how no-one told her that a MV with 1 costume, 1 set and 4 dancers with absolutely no story or anything remarkable would be disappointing coming from Abra and being it directed by Tim Burton.

At least we got something I guess

last year she ended all pop girls and pop boys with DWAS and now in 2025 she's still ending the new it pop girls, rap girls and kpop girlies with her solo smasha Abracadabra

The main purpose of The Dead Dance was to inorganically recreate the viral Wednesday Bloody Mary moment. The simple music video was meant to highlight the choreography. That's why Gaga keeps posting videos of herself doing the dance

We can't really call it a missed opportunity when Netflix and Gaga gave it every possible promo spot they could. I guess they could have made Jenna do the dance in the show instead of annoying side characters, that would of helped

TDD is giving Mayhem an additional 2 million daily streams is a win. Could be worse. And it took a few months for Bloody Mary to take off, TDD still has a chance of becoming a moderate hit

And honestly I deem it a success, because I think it did its job tbh, I honestly did not expect so many people to use it and make dance video, some of them were definitely paid tho :rip:

What I love the most about MAYHEM is how it flows so well in its genre-bending nature, since you have:

- Disease and GOE as the industrial bangers;

- Abra as her most Gaga dance song;

- PC and CSTH as her most rock-oriented tracks to date;

- VIY as her nostalgic "ballad turned into a high tempo song";

- Killah as the funk experimental track;

- ZB, TDD, SOAM and KFL as the disco euphoria;

- LD, HBDUWM and DCT as her homage to 80s pop;

- TB as the rnb-rock midtempo anthem;

- BOG and DWAS as the closing ballad section.

I think the only thing that is somehow missing is another ballad whose quality is up to the rest of the album (or just DWAS at that), cause unfortunately BOG is the weakest track. I hope she'll release a deluxe with the soft ballad she teased months ago, so that MAYHEM can finally be considered as an undeniably perfect album :chick3:

I wouldn't call it a success.

Yes, it did revitalise the era, and add some extra streams, and it's doing decently on TikTok with the choreo (although that effect is dying pretty quickly).

But when you take into account all the effort they've done to make TDD happen (playlisting, radio, pop-ups, tik tok, a whole choreographed scene on W2, ....), the overall outcome is very poor.

Like no one was expecting an Abra-sized smash, but something between Abra and Disease..... And it will end up performing even worse than Disease......

Ofc it could be worse, but also it could have been way better.

One small nitpick I have about the MAYHEM show is that I wish she performed Bloody Mary studio version. I love the version she does at the beginning of the show, but timing was just perfect for a full version with choreo, like the little bit she did at that Netflix event.

We need to get another single before the Grammys. Either for one of the "big tracks" of the album, or for a new song, if deluxe is a thing. :duca:

Why does her label book TTH cover this week? I thought her album releases next week?

It does yeah, I guess they'll put another song on next week for album release.

You can't book the cover for two straight weeks, so it's kinda strange.

The way you're always quoting people with a positive outlook on this song just to **** on them with pessimistic takes :rip:

I don't know how many times it needs to be said but y'all need to WAIT and see what Halloween does for the song before writing these premature obituaries.

Unlike Disease, which came after peak Halloween effect, TDD actually has enough time to build up airplay and name recognition. It also makes no sense to compare it to songs like Fad Romance and Bloody Mary that are well-known songs with established audiences. There are still millions of people out there who don't know what is a TDD and that's an untapped audience for which it is a new release by default. We also don't know what plans she has for it (and the album) next month.

And NO, it will NOT perform worse than Disease. It is already holding better on the Global chart in a post APK-removal landscape and random algorithmic changes. It's also a much lighter, poppier song to stream for the casual listener unlike Disease which is louder and more aggressive. Plus, its association with Wednesday as canon + Halloween will give it a streams boost every year and every time a new Wednesday season comes out.

The outcome isn't "poor" at all, it's fine when you consider it's a soundtrack single that also doubles as a 4th single. Wed S2 also doesn't have the same hype as S1.

The Dead Dance has been cute and fits in very well in mayhem. Also the visuals have rounded out mayhem very well. Hopefully her latest TikTok will add some extra streams and it rises tomorrow
