the Applause era was iconic from all the NY street looks to being blocked at #2 on iTunes those random Kia commercials

 

@Biggie I know this is been said and done and I’m quite late to this. Two of the reasons why I think this song didn’t do well. 
The first one is most obvious - the weird placement and the song style in the movie which did not translate into the studio version. When I heard the song in the movie, it was much more stripped and shorten. So that might have affected that. 
Second thing is that I noticed Interscope didn’t push it hard as they should have been. It was getting a good reception within few weeks and weirdly it didn’t get into rotation (which are heavily influenced with label’s decision), considering it kept on charting thanks to radio.

This. Most of the fan favorites are fan favorites because they weren't singles and therefore never had a chance to bomb 

 

Look at Marry the Night, it was even more beloved before it became a single and didn't do well.

The difference is that other fan favourites are getting no streams basically from their respective albums - Scheisse, DITD, SHICD - those are some of the fans’ favourite yet their streams are tragic while Replay is currently getting the most streams out of non singles from Chromatica.

ddddd Right?! I don't get why fans still can't get this through their heads. The Chromatica album has some of her best imagery. The album cover is her best cover. Why the **** are we whining over candid photos?

Stupid Song's main problem is the lack of chorus, the verses are good, the pre-chorus is good and it makes you feel like it's building up to explode in an amazing chorus but then it's just the instrumental (which is ok but nothing outstanding) and "i want your stupid love, love", it's very anticlimactic, very underwhelming.

 

I'm not saying that every song needs a chorus because there are songs that have instrumental choruses and they're amazing, but this song in particular definitely needed one.
