I have a question. Besides the idiot placement of (not even) the whole song in the end credits of Top Gun, why technically do we think HMH didn't meet greater success? I'll eat my words: I thought it was a perfectly written and produced song and would SMASH. What's the divide with this song and its resonation with the public? Or can we blame Gaga's team with failing to Spotify playlist it early on?

That wig style on anyone is ******* ugly. IDK if it's Ava or Gaga to blame but to see it become a trend -- we hate to see it

Her neck looks like a big league chew advertisement

it would've just gotten a better one week peak thats all. the same reason why IAW became the hit of Maverick, no one wants to hear a sad power ballad the first summer fully coming out covid especially w everyone hitting all the clubs & festivals. one could argue that ROM would've fared better had it been released this summer instead

Who says it's sad, it's more motivational. If you're saying it'd be more sucessfull during the autumn months then more power to you, even though there's 100 songs proving that theory wrong. - Secondly, what awards will IAW be up for?

Plus, you could call Shallow a sad power ballad. My question is, what is the difference?

Maybe the placement of the song in the movie wasn't the best (?)

same difference. then due tell me what song in the Top 10 this week, better yet, past few weeks have placed a power ballad

IAW is ineligible due to its sampling, had it been an OG song, then you can bet Paramount would’ve been campaigning that instead

I'm not saying it should be a top competitor for the top 10 this week (since it's been months since its debut) I just don't get why people **** on it so much and act like it's some lowlight in her discog. It's a pretty sounding, well constructed, emotionally loaded ballad.

well your OP was stating why HMH wasn't more successful overall and I pointed out to look at the current Top 10 BB hits, including one's dating few weeks back, not Top 100, where anyone can land a filmsy TikTok song nowadays. again no one wants to hear a sad emotional ballad in the midst of the summer, its easy to figure out callouts were so horrendous even amongst HAC, her strongsuit aside from her normal loud screeching vocals

We have Bad Bunny hitting worldwide no matter the time of year. It's time to give up the "songs hit depending on the season".

Again, nothing about the song is "sad" but heartening.

But good to know, if she'd released it during the fall (since the summer is too difficult to hear "sad" songs) that it would've fared better.

Who cares about Fadtallica when we could have a Poppy collab instead, the new it girl of Nu Metal

Eh, film award bodies never appreciate full-blown pop songs and will always choose the big ballad over them. Just this past cycle we had 3 mpgs try for an Oscar and the one to get left out was the pop song despite being in a BP nominee. HMH was always going to be the one that gets campaigned.

Starting to not care when we get a new Gar album bc JFAD is going to be such a mega serve we’ll be fed for years

Do you have ears? Shallow was Gaga’s best song since Bad Romance. Since 2013, only smashes when she serves quality & Shallow was exactly that. Still can’t believe she blessed us with that hymn (and the others on ASIB soundtrack)

To think ALL her studio albums would have been 1B+ already if R. K***y was never involved to begin with  :deadbanana4: and now it's going to limp to 1B in 2024, even after its 10th anniversary (crazy that AP is turning 10 next year btw) :toofunny3:

HMH is about crying and hurt and it's a slightly boring ballad. It also doesn't feature in the film until the moment people are getting up to leave. An upbeat song like IAW would've been a better commercial choice but in the end, it doesn't matter too much.

Also TF is turning 15 next year :chick2: and she's entering 15th year of her career

Yeah we're getting old y'all

It's a great song but the glitchy intro kills it, the lyrics are a bit too cheesy and her vocals are too harsh for casual listeners. That's why the OR song is smashing, its an 'easy' listen.. HMH takes some work.

Honey whatever you said here doesn't make sense beyond your ATRL yaas vernacular.

I don't think the song in Autumn-Winter would have performed any better, it's not a song that remains easily stuck in your mind with the first listens, it takes time to get into it and the intro didn't help, the song is good for its purpose, soundtrack song for closing that kind of movie serving vocals and stuff, but it was never going to be a smash hit, regardless of the season of release.

It would have had a better debut if they would have released it properly on a Friday with video and TTH tho.

Shallow is Gaga's best song since Bad Romance

:bibliahh:

PPLEASE you couldn't even stop yourself from replacing 'best' with 'successful'. Absolute delusion.

LG7 being a dreampop/psychedelic rock album with Tame Impala/ Slowdive esque production and a sweet Caroline Polachek collab UGH a literal dream, her alt grammyful era

All jokes and wishful thinking aside, an alt/indie era is bound to happen. All legends had it.
