All jokes and wishful thinking aside, an alt/indie era is bound to happen. All legends had it.

The way hers will be such a stomp I just know it :jonny2:

I have a question. Besides the idiot placement of (not even) the whole song in the end credits of Top Gun, why technically do we think HMH didn't meet greater success? I'll eat my words: I thought it was a perfectly written and produced song and would SMASH. What's the divide with this song and its resonation with the public? Or can we blame Gaga's team with failing to Spotify playlist it early on?

It’s just a generic and uninspired ballad. It’s def below Gaga’s standards. Plus this kind of a song in the middle of the summer never stood chance against carefree and entertaining bops that are being released during this period.

R*ch* definitely used a ghost choreographer for Replay, he doesn't have that range.

It's a big traditional soundtrack song that Diane Warren could have easily written.  Film soundtrack singles tend to follow the same formula for decades, but what once worked from the 80's to early 2000's no longer translates to success in the era of streaming.  ASIB was different because the soundtrack was written from the perspective of a fictitious artist who became a huge pop star in the movie, similar to how Gaga herself writes for her own records.  The only songs that sound like  traditional soundtrack songs on ASIB are Before I Cry, Is That Alright, and I'll Never Love Again (ILNA is incredible tho).

I'm actually really interested in what her post-covid studio release will be about. A lot of artists, esp dance and club-centric artists and lgbt artists, have been profoundly effected by the events of the last few years. I know she's got sumn to say. Plus she's getting to that motherhood crossroads of your life stage, too, AND she's got nothing to prove. LG7 could be really special.

It just occurred to me that Madge's biopic is seemingly on track to go into production sometime next year. Imagine this site if it and J:FaD are up against each other the same awards season :deadbanana2:

HMH's movie version is so boring... the beginning is promising with these violent violins straight into our ear, but when the chorus begins it's too linear and not noticeable, it missing all the depth & drums of the single version.

Honey whatever you said here doesn't make sense beyond your ATRL yaas vernacular.

In what way? Gaga only has mega hits that are 10/10 in quality. Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, Shallow, and to a lesser extent ROM. (BTW was an exception imo). HMH is worse than the bottom tier songs on ASIB, it never stood a chance

Shallow is Gaga's best song since Bad Romance

:bibliahh:

PPLEASE you couldn't even stop yourself from replacing 'best' with 'successful'. Absolute delusion.

He's right, Shallow is a masterpiece :worship:

Because its bad, uninspired and bland... but so it's the 1R song.. just more palatable for the gp

I'm not a BloodPop hater like some of yall, but he had a long enough run. I want her to keep the tradition of keeping a produer or 2 from the previous album on the next one.

HMH is criminally underrated by this fan base and the world at large :toofunny2:

While I don't disagree that SL and HMH aren't necessarily "trendy", they're still the most basic and radio-serving singles she's done in a while  Regardless, her appeal has never been as a standard hitmaker. Ever since the beginning, Gaga and her music have acted somewhat as counterprogramming to the regular pop tarts at the time. She built the image of being an auteur/highbrow popstar at the start of her career and stuff like winning an Oscar have only cemented her image as being at a higher level artistically. Releasing basic gen Z trendy stuff would be at odds with the core of her appeal. The fact that she is different has always been the selling point. We don't want her to feel like late-career Madge struggling to stay cool.

I agree with all of this post. But then again part of being a pop star is a business. She's past her mid 30s and she probably only has a few years left to score few more hits, so it would be smart to use them. She still can release some radio friendly songs that are exciting and don't lack imagination. She has already done both.

I personally would love it if she just stops catering to (Pop) radio for good because they're never gonna embrace her again and Gaga herself was never seen as a standard hitmaker as you said. Focus more on creating a strong body of work that cements her legend status and really showcases her talent and what she's truly capable of. But I would be open to her keeping her name out there with smart and good trendy features. Being able to survive and adapt to different trends is what good pop stars do at the end of the day.
