The Gift doesn't deserve that 77 score on MC

Nor does 4 deserve that 73 score

73 for a 2011 female album is actually great. let’s do a throwback with albums from that era:

Teenage Dream: 52

Born This Way: 71

Rih’s Loud: 67

Adele’s 21: 76

Britney’s Femme Fatale: 67

80 was basically impossible for a mainstream pop girl to get. It wasn’t until Self Titled (85) that critics started to warm up to them. Nowadays anything under 80 is a flop :toofunny3:

Guys, do we think format is gonna be for example:

Renaissance

Renaissance: Act 2

Renaissance: Act 3

or

Renaissance

Something Different

Something Different

The way I understood it (when we first realized it was a multi-part project) is that it would all come under the umbrella of Renaissance. Much like Justin's 20/20 Experience. That way the sales for ALL parts count towards the overall performance of the project.

I'd be hella surprised if she really went the separate titles route and only linked them loosely verbally.

I think the "everything is called renaissance" is the tidiest and most "sales total" friendly. But I'd take either approach especially if she/her team do the work to MAKE SURE they all sell.

I'm so intrigued about her business backend. Are these three projects three separate albums contractually? Is this considered one album and all of the "acts" are merely marketing and a neat way of covering a range of genres? So interesting.

Second one. Because it’s been formatted as “act i RENAISSANCE”, not “RENAISSANCE act i”, so I think acts ii and iii will have completely different names.

Looks like Spotify is pushing Church Girl. For those who have listened to the album, is this a good choice? Respond vaguely and without spoiling.

They had no choice but to pick one so Im not mad at them. We wont know the definitive fan favorite until like Monday

In the US, I think it is a good choice. But not for Europe.

Don’t know I can say much more without spoiling it for you.

it gives more commercial friendly imo than some of the others

I know, but still... i'd be alright with it being 75-79

IMO, no

The decision is kinda 50/50.

On the one hand, I see what they are doing. CG is very quotable, memorable, and definitely has the TikTok appeal. Especially as it progresses.

That said, it's not the most instant song of the bunch. There are other CLEEEEEAAARRR (as day) singles. One of which seems to be placed on NMF with CG, but lower down. It absolutely should be the other way around.

Ultimately, the GP will choose which song they'll gravitate to most.

It's like Drake. He dropped a dance album and yet the one track that won't leave the top 10 is the non-dance track (instead of the single he tried to make a thing).

So, we'll see!

About Church Girl

Spoiler

I don't know. Cuff It and Heated are definitely more radio friendly. Church Girl actually reminded me of Countdown for some reason, maybe because they are both very fast paced and dynamic with the way the beat and the mood switch throughout the song. I think it would be a little "too much" for radio and the GP

But we need the sales! lol. I hope they find some way to finesse tallying all the sales together.

If I were to compare it to any of her previous songs I’d compare it to “Before I Let Go”… it’s not too similar to it, but that’s on being vague.

I can't wait! "I'm about to explode" indeed! :duca:

My TL is still so-so tbh. I want to be bombarded with Beyoncé talk all over my social media so I’m happy to share my time zone with many European countries. It means the conversation will pick up with many of us streaming at the same time! :jonny5:

I never get when people say this about her albums immediately following the release. There was this same rhetoric around ST and even LEM despite the fact that HU, Sorry, 6 Inch, Freedom and even DL could've worked as perfect singles.

Similarly while this album is incredibly experimental and not in the least catered towards appeasing fickle GP appetites, there are still a number of songs that would easily lend themselves to be smash singles. In order of viability (imo): CUFF IT (this is literally a 7 week #1) > HEATED (would have legs on radio) = COZY (very likely to smash on Tiktok) > VIRGO's GROOVE (with a radio edit) > SUMMER RENAISSANCE.

There is even room for urban radio smashes with CHURCH GIRL, and maybe Hot AC with POTS. If Bey and Parkwood want this to be a commercial era, they have ample options to pick from.

Thanks for the feedback.

It seems most agree with you that Cuff it should be the next single.

It’s not one of the best. It’s a decent song but on the safe side.

Cuff It just sounds like a single, and I believe that it would have the most chance to smash

That doesn't mean that it is the best tho

I wish they would've thrown one of the left field dance tracks in those playlists, too.

So what are the predictions for tonight into tomorrow?

We getting BMS vid?

Netflix visual?

Tour announcement?

At the bare minimum, I'm expecting BMS video.

Sometimes different markers get different songs on Spotify. For example the US got Mood 4 Ever, The UK got Bigger
