Kitty Kat came up on shuffle while I was at the gym today, Pharrell did that.

 

I guess it is traditional in the sense that she's letting the song steadily grow on radio and other metrics before putting out a MV or performance. She employed a similar strategy with RTW, her last proper lead, although obviously in a completely different climate. I recall we had to wait an entire month for the first performance and then video, but at least back then we had some tidbits about the MV from the leaked video shoot. Sad as it is, the streaming era just collectively destroyed people's attention spans.

Damn I’m so bored with the pop music scene at the moment. I’m looking forward to the 29th. Hopefully Bey can give us something before then.

I really get where you're coming from. All the lacklustre and disappointing releases this year... I've had enough  Bey is the only artist I can count on to serve unfettered artistic quality

I’m so relieved Bey is coming out with an upbeat, positive album as I am so fed up of sad songs at this point

I don’t mind CGI if done well. BIK and lemonade are great examples. 

Beyoncé’s core fanbase, while it is urban, consists mainly of women and queerfolks so the type of music she’s making now with renaissance is just up their ally. I dont think it’s alienating her base by any means.

I feel like a lot of younger millennials at the time didn’t realize how good this song was until after the fact lol. This and green light.

This is why I laugh when people try to shade Pharrell and claim he’s a mid producer for Sweetener completely ignoring the fact that he produced Kitty Kat, lots of ST songs and other amazing tracks. Don’t ever try to come for legend Pharrell!

He was an amazing producer up until the Blow remix. For some reason everything he has done since 2014 has been weak or just straight up donkey doodoo. I think he has run out of gas. His work prior to that remains immaculate and he is a legend. He’s just kinda going out sad.
