Not since her DC days, but Black Is King is heavy on CGI.

OH true! That film is just so stunning that I just don't think of it as having CGI because it's all so well done and considered and not forced/dominant.

I agree. When I see his name I know the video will be tacky. I don't get why pop fans want their faves to work with him so badly.

I double agree. Some of his videos are fun to watch, but they're mostly relying on some visual gimmick and really require a GOOD creative director to take it away from just being tacky.

Thanks for today's crumb. I told y'all she'd be outsourcing the promo by using fanmade content.

I still think the biggest Hive mystery of the late '10s is what the Michel Gondry Beyonce clip was.

I think Beyoncé is really good at simplicity being used for effect and impressively. For example, as big as it is, I think Homecoming is simple. A stage being used many ways, different formations at different times making new moods and effects.

And I can sort of sense that there may be some CGI in this new video along the lines of the horse.... carefully used and executed CGI to enhance the idea but not MAKE the video per se.

Like what could this have been? Maybe something for the original Coachella concept?

He also mentioned having worked with Beyoncé on an unidentified project. “Unfortunately, it’s not out yet because she [had] twins," he said. "But it’s a finished clip [and it turned out] very, very well, I think.”

Other pop girls would KILL for a video directed by him and she's like... lemme shelve it

Hm, that quote... makes me wonder if there was ever an intention to have a Lemonade re-release where it actually went on streaming and such (instead of waiting until 2019, a kind of random moment alongside Homecoming) but then got cancelled due to her having twins and that being a better narrative / end note than something else that wraps up the era? A weak theory but just a thought.

I hope the video - if it exists - is groundbreaking. There hasn't been a great video in too long. All of this Dave Meyers CGI absurdity is going to look so dated and its all so boring/uninspired.

I kinda wish Bey would work with Dave Meyers. I'm very curious on what he would bring to the table for her.

But if she were to give BMS a visually stunning CGI heavy video, I would wish for Francis Lawrence instead.

Beyonce never really been into the heavy CGI type of videos...right?? i can't think of one

I think you could say Independent Woman. That video is great up to this date and it's 99% CGI.

Francis Lawrence did that :alexz:

When I think Beyonce CGI I think Sweet Dreams, and when I think Sweet Dreams I think this Dancing With The Stars rendition that ruined my life

That, and the Sleigh Bells tracks

I have a STRONG feeling Lizzo is on this album. Between the backlash she got, her success, and her being from Texas, she is certainly on Beys radar, she is also close with Missy and Bey adores Missy and recently sent flowers, I feel theyre both involved.

Her album is also dance heavy too, the Renaissance really has began.

Lizzo said in a very recent interview that she has never met Bey. I doubt Beyoncé is one of those artists that do collabs by sending dropbox files

Besides Savage Remix, i think she recorded  with all her collaborators or at least their producers were there. She’s very hands on

Both Lemonade and BIK have loads of CGI. Formation alone was a whole ass movie. Nothing wrong with CGI when it’s not rushed like a Marvel movie

Agreed! I love his work from the 00´s (Missy Elliott, J-Lo, Jay Z, Aaliyah, Brandy etc.) and what he did with Kendrick, but the rest has been some incoherent CGI heavy videos and I doubt they will age well

i hope Bey will bring back some storytelling to the table than just pretty images. Another reason why I love BIK and Lem
