I would say the only aspect that is impacted by this in terms of my listening behavior is the longevity and hype I feel while listening to the projects in the longrun. Also, the way i connect with the projects is different.

 

I dont listen to a lot of ST these days, but i have a very deep connection to it due to the feeling I remember having when it dropped. Same for Lemonade. Same for Rennie. I fear it won't be the same for CC, tho ive streamed it a lot.

 

Perception and sustainability matters because it creates community and thus results in longevity. Look at the Beatles. Look at MJ. Look at Taylor.

 

Theres a reason you dont see any Paula Abdul stans anywhere and shes pretty much forgotten, no matter how at one point Abduls music made her fans feel and consume her music.

 

I think its fair to wish for Bey to have a Beatles trajectory rather than a Abdul one, if you get what i mean.

And seeing the choices she makes, i fear for her longevity in the next 10-20 years.

I'm always glad when the 03/04 class of R&B girls speak candidly and admit how much Beyoncé's arrival as a solo artist changed their label expectations and made them slightly insecure. Brandy spoke about it once in a documentary of some sort:

Brandy is one of those artists who never recovered because of her shady countenance: (1) lying about her pregnancy with a whole fabricated reality show, and (2) becoming an annoying fly in Kelly Rowland's ear pitting her against Beyoncé and attempting to break their friendship apart. It's a shame because that voice is something special.

 

Unlucky for Brandy: shifting label landscapes caused her to be signed to one of Beyoncé's big co-writers (Amanda Ghost - president of Epic Records at the time*) at a time she was massively underperforming label expectations (Human ), and only lasted one album there.

 

*(Co-writer of "Beautiful Liar", three of the I Am... folk ballads, "Once In A Lifetime" for Cadillac Records, unreleased records "Control" and "Erotic".)

lbr she wasn't exactly skinny during this tour nor during Ren's release year. i remember the red polka dot dress she wore a week before announcing Ren and everyone saying she's thick which means the album can't be coming anytime soon

Interesting insights from y'all.

 

I learned from those candid pics before Break My Soul (giving more home life than anything else) to not predict her release schedule based on that. She really could announce at any time, given that she won't touch a stage until the Grammys or her tour anyway lol. 

 

As for the ramp-up in social activity. I'm 50/50. 

 

Part of me simply thinks she's been dropping pics as part of her usual thing of putting better pics than the candids up on her IG (as more people will see that). Those pics with Patti, Monica etc weren't taken by her team, and we all know how our girl is verrrrry particular about her image. 

 

Her posting the pics with Kelly was cute, but a little odd given that Kelly herself posted them two weeks before. I kinda have a hunch that it's simply for the reasons above (e.g. quickly flood the gram with approved pics).

 

Equally, the F1 thing is random in an exciting way. Act III coded or associated? Something Las Vegas related? Or just rich people schmoozing? We'll see. 

I doubt she'll do anything this side of christmas
