Production wise, CCWT is probably her biggest, most expensive staging design. It's incredibly ambiguous, visually breathtaking and a step up, considering "the cube" was just as extravagant and iconic for 2016. As an actual moving show, hell no‼️There's some incredible highs in the show, mainly because she's recovered enough to actually do choreography for most of the show, but the lows in the show are simply just too big to ignore.
 

As multiple ppl stated, the production slip ups could've seriously injured her, or worse, the setlist starts off good, but gets lost after the second act. The random snippets on the front of the truck, while she butchers "Crazy In Love" and "Heated" for the hell of it was a CHOICE! For most of the tour, the wardrobe was absolutely hideous, which FWT wardrobe was incredibly old and tacky, but here. . .it's unreasonably ugly as sh-t. The band was on stage, but the show still suffered from the use of backing tracks for some reason. 
 

We can't use the excuse that ppl don't like the tour focusing on country music, because the country music wasn't on the tour, and that was ppl's main complaints. Her using tracks and mixes watered down one of the main aspects of what makes country music a specific sound in its own genre. Nothing represented the fact the music was country because her chaps and the interlude visuals. So much of the story was dependent on the interludes and not the arrangements or set list. 
 

So essentially, in my personal opinion, this tour couldn't hold up, not even to her half assing it and injured on the last tour. 

I sort of feel like she was overcompensating for CC, because it wasn't her normal sound, by going all out with the tour production

 

but I think the opposite is true

 

her best performances are usually her most simple

 

no visuals, no screens, not costumes or crazy production

 

just great music and great performance 

 

i hope she continues to remeber than her talent is enough 

 

she doesn't need creative directors, and 100 costumes and a gold horse

Bey has usually been someone who adores putting on performances that are a full spectacle. Even in her earliest eras, her athleticism combined with her vocal skills were incredibly impactful. As her fame grew, so did her spectacle, usually by way of having hundreds of back-up dancers who she was easily keeping up with while performing live vocals. 

 

Unfortunately, we all age, and she just isn't able or willing to put her body through that turmoil. I believe her new reliance on stage gimmicks to help create said 'spectacle' (giant screens, robots, flying cars, etc) is to soften the whiplash in her performance style transition, from spectacle of the self to spectacle of the show. 

 

She's one of the most charismatic performers alive, but audiences have come to expect real grandeur from her, and she is finding new ways to fulfil that quota without sending herself into a painful retirement where she's pushed her body far too hard. 

 

Personally, I really like it. When she's not so caught up in nailing a 2h30min choreo set, she's able to live more in the moment, engage with her crowds, and have fun on the stage

I went to both. 

FWT was like seeing God. Old Testament God. Awe-inspiring but cold. There was no audience interaction, not much warmth in the show, and the music was angry and imposing. It was an amazing show, one of the best I've ever seen. 

 

CCT was fun. It was a non-stop dance party. It was goofy, lacked self-seriousness, lacked the perfectionist chill that defines much of the 2010 Bey output.

i agree with what both of you are saying! At the end of the day it comes down to which kind of music and performance style you prefer. I remember saying before that i really couldn't care less about her having "fun" and being carefree on stage. I want my cold, meticulously perfectionist, robot performing on stage. That's the Beyoncé i know and love. CC was a grand spectacle and easily her best stage design, and i really liked the tour for what it was but something about it just felt phoned in energy wise. 

 

There were barely any stand out arrangements or vocals, the setlist just felt very thrown together and i'll always take her sitting down on a chair and actually singing over her doing acrobatics or flying around in a car while she lipsyncs for her life  I also couldn't care less about seeing damn kids on her stage, having to endure her roommate multiple times on tour was enough. She was already scaling back and serving less ***** during OTR II because grandpa couldn't keep up with her. The carefree party vibe also works great in a RWT setting because the arrangements, songs and transitions balance it out. But it didn't work as much for CC imo, it just lacked musical and standout vocal arrangements, a lot of the songs felt like she was literally just playing the album versions  

 

I would've actually prefered this tour having some Wynn Las Vegas type of stripped back arrangements instead of unnecessarily shoehorning in some of her zumba choreography. Doing a country album live but not performing once with a piano and guitar, which she has done a million times at other, much more random occasions, felt odd

You are so right. You can brutal at times , but I agree with you.

 

Daughter for example, it had nooooo business putting on that dam dress and all that for a song that begged a more acoustic vibe to showcase her voice and the story of the song.

but yes i totally forgot daughter, that was terrible for her standards, it's lowkey baffling that she didn't notice how it simply didn't work. the fugly dress should've never made it out of backstage, there should've been a choir and/or an orchestra on stage, dramatic lighting, lots of smoke, something visually interesting on the screens, serving dark drama with her facial expressions… anything more than just standing there looking bored would've been great
