well, inital outrage is because people thought it was merch being sold. on top of the misinformation, the fact that it was posted to her site with no caption or explanation, people took it as her endorsing the text, even though its just a vintage shirt with a quote from a book from 1967. 

 

 

but yes, history is messy and nuanced and should not be erased or altered just to fit today's standards. unfortunately we also live in a generation that is super quick to cancel or call out any kind of statement that can be perceived as offensive, and using explanations to kind of lessen the harsh realities of our past. one could say this is why we are in the current political climate we are today. but its complicated.

Beyoncé doing 270M from just 22 dates alone is one of the most INSANNNEEE numbers I think I've EVER seen from a tour. Her average gross is even HIGHER than Rennie's with this tour. 
 

She quite literally IS the biggest touring act in HISTORY. There's definitely no debating that, but it's just boggling me how she is able to do this when CC is literally a whole country album.

 

To think this gross could've been even HIGHER if she just announced the tour right after the Halftime Show performance. Oh Beyonce, you are quite literally the biggest artist of the 21s century!

How much do y'all think ACT III will debut with? Ngl, after her doing 100k more than Rennie's first week even with the BOTCHED release, and with aaalll the controversy that was surrounding CC. I can see ACT III doing 500k-700k. Maybe even more than that if she's on top of it. And since it's the most anticipated ACT of the Trilogy.
 

With how much she's STOMPING with the CC Tour I wouldn't be surprised if it clears 600k first week tbh. Cause she's been gagging EVERYONNEEE lately.

Renaissance 332k fw [190k pure (121k CDs, 43k digital, 26k vinyls) - 138k streaming units (179.06M streams) - 4k units from track sales]

 

CC 407k fw [168k pure (63.5k CDs, 42.5k digital, 62k vinyls) - 232k streaming units (300.41M streams) - 7k units from track sales]

 

The biggest potential for growth is clearly on the pure sales front, with her leaving a lot on the table with CC despite the great vinyl sales. Streaming depends on the amount of songs and how much the gp catches on with the focus tracks, a small drop from CC's huge amount is likely for act III if it's around 18-20 songs in total and the individual music videos won't be available on YouTube or other platforms.

Not happening. At least, not from the perspective of it being a surefire thing. And I don't say that to be negative at all. I've BEEN waiting for Bey to do her biggest #s yet. So will always be slightly jarred by the broken-up sales of Self Titled, as that was her big chance at clearing a million had she had a full tracking week.

As ChartHive, I am fascinated by Bey's longevity. Her idols are mine too, and she's now in unprecedented territory because she is maintaining her mainstream pull in a way they could not (including MJ, who is and probably always will be a bigger celeb than her)

 

I say this to say, I take an active interest in the true nature of where she is commercially and the "things" she does and has to do to keep her crown intact. 

 

Rennie was Bey finally biting the bullet with vinyls. No more "I was working on the album til the day it was released" talk. The lead times needed for vinyl pressing and the necessity of vinyl for numbers meant she had to adapt. IIRC, Rennie's first week vinyl total was 26,000. With the album doing about 330k, without vinyl, she'd have been circling dangerously close to her lowest first-week #s at that point.

 

CC saw her double down on vinyl (messily, but whatever) AND play the streaming game. 27 tracks is wild by most standards....but especially by Bey standards. And yet, sis did it and reaped the benefit. Keeping it 100, Bey would have done nearer Ren numbers with CC or potentially lower (given the polarizing genre) had CC been shorter, tighter. So, she/her team are playing the game and I'm here for it. 

 

IMO, the true number of where Bey is organically, based on the length of her celebrity and the market at large, is probably nearer 200k. A little over or a little under. 

 

With that, for Act III (even if it has a smash hit single ala Texas) she will still need to do "the things". With a strong physical component and smart streaming tricks, that would still put her in the Rennie/CC range IMO (330k-450k). 

 

I actually disagree that there is this untameable appetite for a Rock album from Bey that will turbocharge Act III sales beyond the usual. I think it's the CC mix of stan interest and a GP intrigue for her veering left of her normal sound. I personally know a lot of Bey's core base who gave CC more of a passive listen, clapped for AOTY, but aren't overly invested in the project or its tour (some went, some didn't). And these are stans not casuals.

 

Would love for her biggest sales yet. So, manifesting huge singles and collabs to push it beyond her still-impressive usual range.

I understand where u are coming from, but theres one variable you are not considering:

Beys ability to GAG us and the world. 

 

If there's one thing I wanna bet on, its Beys ability to make the world stop because she releases an output that is so far beyond anything we can even theoretically cook up. 

 

And lets not forget: she's been working on the trilogy for almost a decade. Anything she releases has been marinating in glory and perfection for such a long time. Its literally impossible for it to be anything but grand and amazing
