I have a hot take that just hit me while I was watching a youtube reaction video. Whew y'all don't wanna admit it may be true.

 

 Dreamgirls was a MISSTEAK for Beyonce. This is where they started to fully believe she's an inferior singer. Despite Beyonce admitting she downplayed her voice for the role, the geepee doesn't care. Beyonce is such a great actress that they can't separate her from the character Deena whom is the villain of the movie. It doesn't help that Dream Girls resembles Destiny's Child with Beyonce being the main star, other girl(s) get kicked out, all the cameras on Deena (Beyonce). You know how some actors are so good at their role as a villain that you can only see them as that character? That's what this movie did to Beyonce. This is why she has so many haters especially within her own community. 

 

I'm watching a reaction video to the movie and I feel like they're projecting Deena's character onto Beyonce herself. And a lot of the character does scream Beyonce. The scene where Deena is watching a video applauding all of her accomplishments and being the most accomplished black singer, to the next scene she's walking into her mansion, etc. It screams modern rich "black capitalist" Beyonce. 

 

Then the cherry on top is Beyonce getting snubbed and Jennifer winning her Oscar. The victim of the movie and real-life rookie, Jennifer Hudson slam dunks on Beyonce in award show season. 

 

Look at the top comments of this video. "It's difficult to hate the disco version." Why should you hate it? I know Deena stole it from Heffie but outside of the movie you should be able to enjoy it. Instead Beyonce gets villanized in the comments lol. "Jennifer has more emotion and soul." DUH THAT'S THE POINT!!!!!!!!!! Half the drags Beyonce gets today IS BECAUSE OF THIS MOVIE.
