She name-dropped Ren in the 2021 Harper's Bazaar article, so she definitely had that decided much earlier than people keep theorizing.

 

The way I understand it, it's not that CC was ever meant to be act i but rather some version of CC (Beyince, I guess) was what she was working on between 2017-2019 to be released as her Lemonade follow-up. Then the pandemic happened, and all that downtime gave her room to dream up a grander musical project encompassing the three acts, with Renaissance ultimately emerging as the first chapter.

From the art book? I don't love the book's cover.  Wouldn't say chop perhaps, because it probably got a lot of intention to it…

But she confirmed herself that CC was originally meant to come out first before Renaissance, but she changed her mind. 
 

Isn't that also why we have the mess that is ACT ii physicals being named Beyince etc.

Honestly though I think she needs to be a bit careful with the chaps if she does wear them on stage and they don't cut her at wonky parts of her legs, they'll make her look shorter. 

I guess the cowboy carter pic she used to promote it, someone on twitter pointed out the bad photoshop on the right side of her hair and now I can't unsee it

An iteration of CC (100% not the final version we got or even the initial vinyl pressing) was created to be the follow-up to Lemonade, but a lot changes in 5 years. She released Ren first because she wanted to usher in an era of joy following the pandemic, which directly correlates with the August 2021 tease timeline. Why would she tease Renaissance that directly a year in advance if she had no plans of releasing it for another 3 years?

I do wonder / it is unclear when she decided to make it a 3-act project. I have a hard time believing Renaissance was put together in 2020-21 alone. did she possibly have 3 whole albums in the works while she also did Lion King, The Gift and Black Is King? she's unbelievable.
