Renaissance is very consistent quality wise, it keeps you engaged throughout the entire run and it is very well structured. It just flows. Cowboy Carter has many sections that feel like they drag on for far too long and there's more than a few songs that are flat out uninteresting and add nothing to the overall narrative or soundscape of the album, if not straight out bad (looking at Spagehtii, regardless of how some people try to claim we 'just don't get it').

 

There's good (great even) music on Cowboy carter but it didn't stick the landing when it comes to the execution. There was a review when it came out I forgot which one that said something among the lines of 'there's a Renaissance in the rough there if you remove the unnecessary parts' and I couldn't agree more with the sentiment.

Hot take, but The Gift is in my top 5 whereas CC and 4 are not.

 

It would probably be top 2 if it wasn't connected to the theme of The Lion King, but I still appreciated its message about self worth and the circle of life for what it was. It gave us gems like FYWB, BSG, Bigger and Otherside after all. I just would have preferred it if she were to put out a solo Afropop/beats record without any "disney rated" limitations along with a film and tour packed with heavy choreo. Throw in a deeper dive into the Yoruba/Vodou visuals that connects to her Creole heritage and *chefs kiss* she could have kept some of the featured artists on there too. Also, Disney and its racist fans didn't deserve that film AT. ALL. but a disney check is a disney check, I guess. The whole project felt hindered and unappreciated.

She has really spoilt us with Renaissance. The essays here with complaints CC is unlistenable in one go. 
Not all albums need to be listened in full, and if you're so bothered just create your own playlist without the songs you dislike so much. 
 

Apart from Rennie which other Beyoncé albums do you really listen to from beginning to end? Cause this nonsense is tiring…

Cowboy Carter feels like a movie. Like an entire journey. While Renaissance feels like an experience, like a whole spiritual rebirth and you don't even know how to explain it. 

 

CC to me is her most emotional album and is SUCH a moment in time in her discography. It feels like time stops with it.

 

While Rennie feels like a turning point. Like an elevation to her discography if you will. I feel it shot her into an echelon of artistry where she really stands ALONE, lmaooo!!! No one could've expected such an insane album from her, and many won't be able to repeat the magic she made with that! 
 

I still enjoy Rennie more than CC, but CC  makes me feel different things Rennie doesn't. Regardless though, both are MASTERFUL albums. And quite frankly albums that could only be done by HER.
