Pffff I know people hate to see it.

Whew the girls are MAD and saying anything as to why Bey doesn't deserve the ranking.

Such a sad yet enjoyable view to witness

I think my seat for her halftime show is facing her behind. Apparently halftime stages usually face the home bench? I know her ass is NOT going to face my direction, she's never been a 360 stage kind of girl. :gaycat7:

wait so is it going to be live?

I really have to laugh when reading comments such as "good that Bey is #1, now she receives all the hate from the GP".

Its not like the internet weirdos dont take up any chance to drag her and defame her. We literally been knew and dont care. You can tell these kiddos dont know what true backlash looks like

I'd assume so since she has Houston TX in her bio and also tweeted it out.

This performance in her hometown of Houston, Texas will be the first live performance of songs from her genre-bending and record-breaking Cowboy Carter album.

Eating humble pie af atm re Bey x Drake.

As Chart Hive, I remember being so vocal on here about Bey needing to "team up" with established streaming monsters like him to ease into the streaming era in that gap between the underperforming Gift project and B7 (which could be argued was make or break for her present-day power).

At the time, both commercially and culturally, it seemed like "more Bey and Drake" was a no-brainer and I internally was always jarred that it had been limited to Mine and seemed to be semi-off the table because of rumored tension between Jay/Drake.

Now, it's more than clear that the Carters just get "it" and are playing chess not checkers.

As Chart Hive, I definitely still believe that it's vital to play the game and make strategic alliances for commercial gain (which is exactly what Miley, Post Malone etc were to CC), BUT...sometimes keeping a measured distance from others (like Drake) pays off.

He objectively looks crazy atm and is going out corny, sad, and pressed. And in hindsight, his output has been wack for a long while. Even before the Kendrick drama, his whole attempt at the Dance album (which I've always felt was a subtle attempt at one-upping Bey as industry types would have known she was working on a Dance record) was wack and indicative that they just vibrate on different levels of quality artistically.

Put simply, this is a long and verbose way of saying I'm so glad Bey didn't hitch her ride to him in any way. So glad.

Moral of the story? Savvy moves/pairings ARE a must, but the obvious route isn't always the right route.

Have y'all seen this? Total conjecture, but starting to get more and more of a hunch that there will be some kind of pre-taped/cinematic elements to the performance. Monkeypaw literally do film and TV shows and don't have a footprint or any activity in the live space.

So, either something pre-taped will be essential to the performance (think tour-like interludes that end up being immersive and incorporated into the performance itself) or maybe there's something Monkeypaw is involved in related to the Halftime that isn't Halftime itself (a doc or short film)?

Same will happen to Taylor. I look forward to the day when the teens grow up and realize how corny her output is. Its gonna be a day to celebrate when memes such as "us in school thinking we were fly" with corny Cruel Summer music as the background music.

The beauty of stanning Bey is no matter the **** they throw at her, theres ALWAYS something great balancing the negativity out, such as Diva ironically reaching peaks right in this moment and her being announced as the greatest popstar of the 21st century. Beyonce ALWAYS comes out on top

I think if this is anything but a (at least partially) live show, there will be some backlash, and a deserved one at that :ninja:

If it's gonna be pre-taped then fine, but that should be announced beforehand. Many of the mistakes that have been made in the past couple of years has been the vagueness in terms of what audiences should expect. It's better to clarify to consumers what they're getting in advance so they don't end up with a feeling of disappointment, that can really drive them away over time

I 100% agree.

The thing is, though, I get the sense that she deliberately leans on vagueness so that we're placated by whatever we're given.

If her Halftime is longer and/or grander than we expect? "Amazing!" "Queen!" "Legend!"

If it's shorter and/or pre-taped? Then it's "Well, there was no frame of reference to begin with" and it's still "innovative" and "first of its kind".

It's kinda jarring because, from a PR perspective, our grating fave will always have the ability to spin her ish as a "positive" even if it's against the grain of what we stans feel (e.g. presenting the "no visuals" (for now) as some kind of amazing, groundbreaking move in the Rennie press release lol).

I agree, though, that (as with everything) there is an upper limit to shenanigans. Play in people's faces too much and eventually the masses catch on. She's rightfully used to being showered with praise because of her amazing output. But if she half-asses, phones in, or does too much smoke and mirrors with her Halftime (or simply doesn't deliver on the "expectation" of "Beyonce" or an "NFL Halftime", it's only fair that she's subject to the tuggings we all give everyone else.

The Billboard list really sent the nr 2 fanbase in a breakdown :hoetenks: I aint seen anything like this on Twitter in ages.

I've been called every kind of ape in my DMs by Swifties since Billboard announced. It's actually hilarious the level of breakdown

I can't believe a song as perfect as Flamenco exists

This is what happens when the basis of your stanning is meaningless metrics like numbers, chart positions, and rankings.

If you check out this account I think she randomly updated some of her sales. im glad DIL shut down Telephone being her last biggest hit cause it wasn't. Album sales are still kinda mid to me

the fact that Drunk In Love sold that much blows my mind. but again, it was everywhere in 2014. everyone from The Weeknd and Sia to Rita Ora did a cover/remix of that song :jonny5:

True and after persuing the rest of their feed, they post about all things Black pop culture (Gladiator, Wicked press interviews etc).

Back to "no frame of reference of what fave has up her sleeve" we go :-(
