I say this with love but Gaga and Bey would been unbearable singing in that style on that song.
 

The vocal approach is partly what makes it kinda mid for me. By comparison, Miley smoothed it out and is the better choice. it would've devolved into a shouting/growl off with the other.

Quite funny because she didn't have an actual ALBUM until "4". I think if there was a little more personality in "I Am. . . Sasha Fierce" to where the ballads were not so cheesy and mid and uptempos weren't so dated, it could've been a classic album. There's about 7 timeless songs from that era that are weighted down by the actual album. I associate so many songs on "Country Carter" being what she should've been aiming for, timeless ballads and artistic expression of self while still catering to commercial (whyt) audiences. 
 

The same could be said for "B'Day" because it's great to hear the songs on her two live albums, "I Am. . . World Tour" & "HOMECOMING", or experience them from her live concerts, but it's never fun listening to the actual album often.

The Lemonade disrespect 

 

Lemonade is her cult album. It is not an album that is suppose to be played over and over again and thats okay. It does not take away from its greatness and how masterfully crafted it is. 

36M with 25 songs, but CC was apparently an inflated flop because it hit 76M with 23 eligible tracks?

So you have to be in a "mood" to listen to Hold Up, Sorry or 6 Inch on repeat but you don't have to be in a mood to do so with Protector, Just For Fun or Blackbiird. You all say whatever on recency bias.  Then B'Day is also record you have to be in a mood too because it definitely won't work if you're feeling sad. I don't get how that ranks an album higher than others tho.

Especially when it comes to "recency bias". It's such a thing in stan land and is jarring when trying to have legitimate discussion about ish. 

 

That said, I don't think the whole "have to be in a certain mood to listen to Lemonade" is an off base or incorrect take. 
 

While emo music is a thing, a lot of people listen to music in general for fun and/or escapism. Lemonade is stripped back, kinda heavy, and (I'll keep saying it) fairly left of what people "typically" listen to Bey for. By contrast, even CC, infuses more of the upbeat, light, and fun moments alongside its darker more intricate corners. So it kinda figures why it makes for a more accessible listen than Lemonade.

 

Ultimately, it's all relative. Those who live for Lemonade won't stop doing so because a bunch of us don't care for it (as much). While no amount of adamance about its quality or depth will turn the take of us who prefer Bey in her uptempo bop bag or those of us who simply find it boring relative to her other projects.

Mine was the ST era. Everybody had the song when they bought the album digitally. 
6 INCH wasn't on Spotify and couldn't benefit from Abel's reign.

This time, everything will be brand new and has been set up perfectly. First test is coming next week so we'll see soon

Potentially a solid spotify update today. Globally, she only lost a position to Peso Pluma who benefitted from his Coachella appearance, however she had some good updates in Germany and France for instance

I would argue 4 is her cult album. It's a record that had a lukewarm reception when it came out and it's not something most people would think of first when mentioning Beyoncé; however a huge chunk of the fanbase stands by it and swears it is among her best work (myself included).

Yesterday at the sauna, I just let the album play straight and did again today, of course it won't listen to it straight all the time but I was just reminded what an amazing work of art. 

We might nick pick songs that do not suit our mood, what's our favorite out of her last albums etc but yeah CC is really excellent.

Lukewarm reception... by the GP, but it actually ended up being her most acclaimed body of work in a period of time when poptimism wasn't a thing. She knew that was an album made mainly for herself. It's important as it was the first time she said "**** the charts, I'm gonna make timeless music that I love", and it certainly did pave the way for ST and Lemonade when it comes to their brilliant concepts.

 

I actually see eye to eye with Beyoncé (and you): 4 and DIL are her classic albums. I was pleasantly surprised by seeing her perform so many songs off that album at RWT.

 

On the other hand, ST and Lemonade are remembered for other reasons.

Ren was for us, the fans

 

CC was for the culture

 

ACT III is for her

 

it'll be her vanity project and potentially her best album ever 

 

Texas is still that *****  No other song on the album has such replay value. The way the intro makes me start moving every time
