Listen, I like Jay-Z but I agree with you in ways about seeing him involved with Beyonce artistically. It can be overdone and tired from her, but we have to separate incorporating Jay-Z artistically from the woman who is by name Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Carter.

 

This album title has nothing to do with that other stuff with Jay-Z. At all! Anyone who views the album title as something to do with Jay-Z is not using their critical thinking skills.

Taking your husband’s last name is an outdated and misogynistic practice anyway. But that’s a conversation for another thread

because she followed a very succint and specific way of doing things for a good chunk of her career. only in the past decade has she thrown all of that out the window. unfortunately some people have trouble adjusting to the way she is now.

I like that the Basé isn't culty and worshippy. we're all adults here and difference in opinion is not a bad thing inherently.

 

what I don't like is the constant doom loop. like, let people enjoy the moment a bit! but no, we have to immediately start complaining within a couple hours of any new development.

This isn’t just the Hive. Every fanbase is like this. Everyone will have different opinions and expectations about every project and the discussions is what keeps the fandom alive. But I will say that it’s only the Hive that will attack others for having a disagreement that doesn’t even matter and will take everything personally

I hear ya’ll. No pun intended, but I don’t think a cultish Hive mind base would be healthy. Especially if we just went up for everything with fervor we’d end up like the barbs. 😂

 

I’m with @kimberly It’s the doom and gloom part that gets me. If you don’t like it fine, but let’s not act like one’s personally disagreement with Beyonce’s choice is her downfall or indicative of her decline.

I remember how IASF was a more controversial title and I vaguely remember people saying she was changing her name. This is nothing compared to that. And if we take Beyoncé out of it, Joanne was also met with controversy. Names rarely work. It’s not an attack to Bey.

Well, it’s things like bringing up what other people are saying about the album title worrried that they perceive using Carter in an album title is an ode to Jay-Z. It implies there is some negative consequence about what those dummies think. f them.

 

I believe when we hear the album, the title will make sense to everyone.  Even if you don’t fall in love with it, you will at least respect in on it’s artistic merit.
