She's such a legend. The fact that she's scoring one of the biggest global hits of her career, over 20 years into her career, with a country song. Not to mention the significance of a black woman in America going #1 with a country song during Black History Month, and bringing more exposure and attention for other black women in the genre. And she has proven beyond any doubt that she has transitioned successfully into the streaming era - there are not many artists who can say that they were at the top of the game during the physical sales, digital sales and streaming eras of the music industry. She's one of the all-time greats.

THE can be the preview to the film. Since it’s the first song on the album, there’s no issue in seeing a visual. It might make people more excited for the rest.

I stan Queen Mother Madonna so much and always was fascinated with her 2000s resurgence (American Life aside). I lived through it and have vivid memories of seeing Music and Survivor back to back on music channels but didn’t understand the magnitude of Music and then Hung Up being such mega global smashes in her 40s, as I got into her in my adult life. 
 

Seeing Bey have her own version of that is literally what I dreamed of for her career. Knowing that kids bopping to THE right now are the equivalent of little me dancing to a Madonna song in the 2000s. The way Madonna was able to go up against Beyoncé and Britney on the charts is the same as Beyoncé now with Ariana and Dua. It’s amazing to see that despite their obvious differences Bey has managed these parallels that I always thought were incredible about Madonna. I am so excited to live through it as an adult.

 

Not to mention seeing women over 40 winning like this, particularly a woman of colour with the odds against her in a genre like this. It’s career defining all over again.

Ya’ll crazy. I know we’ve been severely traumatized and desensitized over the visuals. But nah. I want the visual for THE! This has the potential to be bigger than Single Ladies. She completely owns SM with all the fan versions, but no one has seen her dance to it.
