My lesbian cousin had a DC album and I liked some songs here and there. She was sort of inescapable on radio with Check On It, I heard it every morning on my way to 3rd grade. But I was a full on Hilary Duff and Hannah Montana stan.  I haven't seen the light yet until she was dry humping the air at the 2009 VMAs, shortly after MJ's death. And I just knew I had to throw the Disney stan card away.

This would cloud the purpose of act II. There’s nothing great about that. All it would end up with showing the GP is „see, she sounds better with xyz genre“, which would totally dismiss the album. Let fans have fun with it all they want, but Bey should stick to her guns and do a proper country act

i really ask myself who works in these businesses - do they really believe Bey didn’t GREATLY benefited from the platform and is seeing those repeaks in terms of popularity because of TikTok? I hope this is just some sort of bug, butninexpect the worst

Is somebody on Texas under universal?

At first I thought it was Beyoncé sabotaging now that she's got the #1 (Break My Soul getting pulled from radio flashbacks).

 

But if it's UMG publishing then shitttttt. Most of B's catalogue is down (her TikTok's are now mute). Checked a few other artists (Doja, SZA, Kendrick) and most of their music has been removed as well.

That said, I'm glad Bey snatched her #1 with the quickness before the publishing side of things got involved lol.

 

She's garnered the momentum she needs, so whatever happens now is kind of an afterthought. 

 

Like, whether TH'E is a quick lil hit ala Ariana's Yes, And? or a monster like We Belong Together or Old Town Road, we've got the #1, the album hype, etc. The rest is icing on the cake.

I do sense that I may be being a little too optimistic, as IIRC a lot of Rennie's organic hype came from the various challenges for Alien, Cuff It, etc that went viral on TikTok. All of which helped the album's buzz-iness and its streams.

 

Hopefully, there's a workaround or better yet, that the whole issue is resolved. 

 

Not us getting hype that we had a free playing field with no UMG artists only for the same war to come bite us in the butt lol.
