There was word about her doing country before there were ANY hints about her doing House. I remember when we were for sure going to get country music, that was before we knew there would be different "Acts".

A journalist from an Italian magazine said he spoke with someone from her team back in 2022 and they said it was going to be House- Country- Rock. I think nobody took him seriously but that seems to be right. All the music is recorded already and she did them all during the pandemic.

oh there's no way she's taking home a country award, I don't think.

I don't see her ever winning a genre award outside of R&B or pop. She got nominated for DHY with a beloved rock legend like Jack White and still couldn't win there.

Beyoncé really did something to me with these songs. I didn't expect to be so hyped for a country act, but the flavours she's given have certain wet the appetite. TEXAS HOLD 'EM is just fun and silly but also so laidback, and 16 CARRIAGES is truly an epic ballad, so beautiful and forlorn but kind of gritty.

I thought the rumor was house-country-Jay-Z collab album? Am I wrong? I swear I remember that one being a rumor too. 

 

Either way, I hope it ends up being rock  ain't nobody here for The Carters 2.0

IMO, based on the info, it's giving:

 

* act 1: dance

* act 2: country-inspired

(both of which still give her the scope to Urban-ize as they are both Black genres originally anyway). 

 

Even then, the collaborators purposefully mentioned don't even really fit into either. Ryan (who I'm ecstatic she's working with) is more outright Pop and Raphael is an R&B legend. Neither of which scream the genres they mentioned. 

 

Still, just makes me more excited/curious about the soundscape Bey has created.

Also that Beyoncé/Dolly-esque sign has REALLY intrigued me. I kinda hope the visuals serve Beyoncé in various roles: tawdry saloon singer, farmer lady, small town cashier, lady who is always at a casino, mother of three, geologist, cattle rancher, madame of a prestigious but dusty brothel, etc. etc. etc. like an American south where a bunch of different Beyoncés exist... enter some sci-fi themes to tie it to Echoville/act I, etc. etc. etc.

this rumor came from an entertainment reporter, Kyle Buchanan or something like that. he said he heard it'll be dance - acoustic (not country, specifically) - Jay Z collab.

to be fair, DHY lost to the title track of David Bowie’s final album - no one else stood a chance in his categories that ceremony (and tbh I think he might’ve beaten Adele with a posthumous AOTY win had he made the final lineup or in an expanded nominee year since that one only had 5)

 

eta: not that he would’ve been my pick in either lineup, but his unexpected passing days after dropping a career highlight set his work up to sweep the categories it was nominated in + would’ve been an easy AOTY pick for voters

S9meone correct me if I'm wrong- I believe the flyer had something to do with Spatial Lab app that Jay Z invested into some kind of way. There was young black guy who, I believe, owned the app that was tweeting alongside the albums release as if they had something coming pertaining to the visuals. 

 

I can't remember all of it, it's  been nearly 2 years, fan pages on Twitter thought it was going to be a way to view the visuals. They were thinking on his app, something virtually interactive or something along those lines. After a while, the theory was proved false.
