Y’all remember when a dancer in the Blow music video talked about his experience and how he had no idea when the video would release. Almost a year after filming it he was with fans outside an area waiting for Beyoncé’s car to exit and her window was rolled down to wave at everyone. The dancer started singing Blow and she made a shook face and dropped the album the next day.

I know I might be partial to it to some extent because it's one of the shows I attended but I genuinely think there's things from that concert that should've stayed constant throughout the tour. (also I attended the Dusseldorf show for the FWT and do not think that was one of the best dates in the slightest)

 

These are just from the top of my head, chronological order:

 

- they started opening the circle screen midway through DIL therefor mashing the DIL and F&A performances together. DIL should've stayed just her with the sunset clouds behind as a heavenly opening and THEN open it for F&A and showcase the band to differentiate the two

 

-the cloak she started using for ITG made the start of the performance very static 

 

-the way she did the poses with the robot arms for Cozy during opening night were the best cause she was perfectly framed inside them and not going outside them

 

-the increasing use of shades throughout the entire show was appalling. Her eyes and expressivity are one of the best aspects of her performances

 

-Virgo's Groove was cut even shorter 

 

-the outfits have been getting worse in general

 

-Thique was cut shorter as well when she started doing it again

 

-no riding on the disco balls for Drunk In Love

 

-she stopped changing her gloves for the bee costume and just kept the ones she had during the previous act

I don't have the link but one of the showrunners confirmed Bey was in talks to do a Tina tribute but refused to confirm whether or not she's doing it.

I think the sunglasses are a defense mechanism. She wears them everywhere now. Seems like a touch of social anxiety to me but who knows

Thanks. Nothing but a huge group of “hidden” middle-aged and older White men who think they know what’s hot and not. Thinking overcompensating Beyoncé with awards in genre-specific categories and nominations in general, will take focus off of the fact that three of her monumental albums that have SHAKEN and literally changed the industry have never been awarded. 

**** what other people think about her, those people will never accept her or think she's good enough. I'll take whatever we can get even if it's pre-recorded like the Oscars

It won’t be asking Bey not to perform anywhere. And yes, f the Grammys; but she has enough of them to boycott them without looking ungrateful. It is what it is.

Got wind she wasn't performing the Tina thing from a friend of a friend of a friend and kinda tried to hint y'all a few posts back. 

 

Wondering aloud if it's a slight troll to setup a jaw-drop moment for an "appearance" (rather than a performance). 

 

That or we are OFFICIALLY in the "you have to pay to see me perform on tour... and there's no let up on that at all"

 

If it's the latter, I'm torn. 

 

On the one hand, these shows play in Black artist's faces way too much, so there's a big part of me that's like "yep, know your worth". Plus, there's a point when an act like Bey must clock that "playing the game" must lead to a point of having "won the game". And she has "won the game". She's done all the necessary and above board stuff to theoretically not "have" to do it anymore and sets a certain premium for herself and her brand so that "they" need her and not the other around. 

 

THAT SAID...

 

I can never fully co-sign such antics, because it denies us fans the "moments" we deserve and have became accustomed to. Plus, in Bey making her performances a special attraction and one offs (more often than not), sis is running out of platforms befitting of her stature. 

 

I can see her legacy years bringing with it a more promo-friendly approach (as she likely won't be basking in the "it girl-ness" of now where mystery is the new "promo").

 

BUT, in the here and now, it's hard to see what her next big live moves can be, as she's seemingly done performing at award shows and is unlikely to be repeating the likes of Coachella, Glastonbury, etc any time soon.

 

In a way, she's kinda boxing herself into doing less and less.
