My House is such a weird song - i cant say i live for it, but for whatever reason, im hooked af.

Not only did she release a cute little video to honor the anniversary of this album she included voice clips from past mini documentaries for the album, AND added a new voice clip specifically saying “happy 10 years”. She knows who mother is, I am stunned at this crumb she gave us

Reaaaally surprised she went out of her way to record a new voice clip AND post on her IG about self-titled when she couldn't even acknowledge her very first solo album during a simple speech on tour!

But nothing makes sense with her haha!

 

As for where I was when self-titled was released... I think I realized she released an album when I sat at my computer at work! I was BAFFLED. I was supposed to go out with some colleagues that night, let's just say I canceled everything and made my very first and UNIQUE purchase on Itunes so I could enjoy all the videos in my bedroom that night!

I distinctly remember “I woke up like this” selfies taking over Instagram , what a moment. Streaming the album via bluetooth in my car through the visuals bought on iTunes

parkwood making x amount of flop IG shop accounts instead of promoting on her main, only doing it last minute when they saw those pose box sales. I wonder how many more renaissance vinyls she could have sold debut week had people known about them.

I remember coming home from school when the album was already released earlier in the day. I WAS SO CONFUSED. I thought the music video clips on YouTube were fake and were snippets from commercials etc. Lol.

Okay, next album please, ready to spend more money @giselle

She only did 30k for debut week and sold all of them 

Self-titled is just simply iconic.

 

I was 11 when the album came out and I didn't have iTunes yet - I just played CDs so I couldn't access the album till the physicals came out (other than the 30 second previews she put up on YouTube). I was dying to see those visuals so I was really glad when I was able to buy the CD/DVD on the 27th of December.

 

I remember being shook at the Partition video lmao. Another thing I love about CD/DVD is how luxe it feels though it's just a slipcase. Maybe it's just that I like the aesthetic of the album cover.

 

There's not much to be said about the record that hasn't been said yet but I just really admire how she had a vision and she stook to it despite how some people in the industry doubted her and thought her idea for a visual album and surprise drop was ludacris. And then she absolutely reshaped the industry and has continued to build upon that in the past 10 years and genuinely reach new ground with each era. Can you say legendary?

I really hope so. We've seen evidence it's important to keep the momentum going in the streaming era and since she theoretically already has the other two acts finished, she needs to drop one next year sooner rather than later. I think a spring release would be great.

 

She doesn't even have to tour it, but if she does she could follow the Renaissance pattern and tour almost a full year later.

I still remember seeing the visual for 'BLOW' and the way she made me so excited. the creativity, the execution, the glam,  the fun everyone is having, the editing, THE LOOKS!! a video of pure intention. such a major moment for her visually and so on brand sonically. 

Us still trying to solve the Rennie visuals mystery on the ten year anniversary of her first real visual album…it’s like poetry: it rhymes.

I never understood the hate for this song. it's such a bop!!!! and has such an uplifting message
