When you listen to Chloe and Halle talk about Beys involvement, they always just state how she gives feedback regarding their music. Thats all. She provides the team and name recognition, thats all.

 

And you are right, Chloe is getting g dragged because similar to Beys own releases, there is no guidance or artist development. Whoever told Chloe its a good idea to become a bad wannabe Saweetie-hood girl lied to her several times. So so irritating and mindboggling how they can mess up a rollout by Chloe like this because she is factually insanely talented. But thats Beys laissez-faire approach right there. I couldve done a better job at helping out Chloe and guiding her than Bey, thats the tea

Well... it's almost certain that Chloe x Halle would have been dropped had they been on any other label... the fact that their highest (and ONLY) charting single on the Hot 100 across two albums was Do It at #63 with amazing promotion/live performances, budget, attention, placements that do not befit their commercial status in the industry etc. says a lot about the kind of label that Beyoncé has with Parkwood, and the priority of showcasing the artists' talent not their commercial appeal.

 

Chloe's debut single peaking at #28 is pretty great, compared the success the duo had.

 

Yes, a stricter label would/could have gotten them/her more hits, but it also likely would've given them half the opportunities.

 

 

And also, I think it's important to note that Beyoncé herself has done everything she can (it seems) to shift the way the industry of her stardom functions, and I don't think she's interested in merely replicating a formula for success in her signed artists. I think she wants to nurture mini-legends, not mini-icons popular in one moment but irrelevant beyond that. And though Chloe hasn't lived up to the commercial potential many expect, no one along the way has questioned her talent and that is something that gets you far in the industry. Just look at Patti LaBelle, a certified legend with very little mainstream pop success.

I was actually a big Chloe x Halle fan, still think Ungodly Hour is a GREAT album. But solo Chloe is just not doing it for me. Very forced sometimes to the point of cringe.

Hmmm I think about this a lot. Like I know Madonna and Bey and Rih and all the girls have been to New York and Paris and London and Rome a million times, but have they actually had a chance to be people in those places, or just celebrities doing celebrity things at celebrity places. Hotel, venue, press conference, costume fitting, trendy restaurant. Then again Giraffe doesn't strike me as a capital city girl. We might as well call her Dolphin with how much she's in the middle of the ocean.
