The album is all over the place and lacks the direction that The Gift or the first BP's soundtrack had. 

 

It surely could have benefitted from Bey's musical production genius. 

The way Smile/Love 4 Sale,most of MPG's live album and now BP soundtrack (maybe?) failed to opened higher than TG/Homecoming/EIL  TG is silently approaching 800M streams as we speak.

It's not bad. I'm (personally) not saying that. 

 

I think for as big as these movies are and as much as they mean to the culture, they are all missing the mark when it comes to creating musical moments attached to them. It's wild because the opportunity is right there.

 

It's not that they aren't trying. It's just that something is always missing. 

E,g,:The Gift = amazing musically, all the "right" people on board, but confusing marketing. GP nonethewiser it was out and what it was relative to the movie soundtrack. Visual coming a year later didn't help.

 

Black Panther 2: they have everyone on it. I'd even say they attempted a take on The Gift. But it's just not giving. Getting Rihanna was a flex, but that evaporates after a while because the song is boring af.

BP2 soundtrack is boring. Stand outs are Burna Boy’s Alone. I listened to the first soundtrack repeatedly. I still listen to All the Stars. Annoyed that it didn’t win an Oscar.

They don't even used The Gift's songs on TLK. It's completely unrelated; the album could've peaked at #137 if it wasn't for Beyoncé's name. 'Dreamgirls' on the other hand is a soundtrack related to the movie, it debuted #1 and sold 1M but nobody seems to talk about that on ATRL and act like B's soundtrack are all flops. Besides, I'd Rather Go Blind had 100M streams on YT and Spotify iirc despite nobody knows it exist.
